As I fell, I felt peace. I concentrated on the wind carrying my small body over the trees, and finally started to hover. I flew higher, higher, higher....
I didn't realize exactly how high I had risen until my eyes started to hurt from the blinding sunlight. I descended gently, and stopped right as my bottom touched the top of a cloud. I often tried to pretend I lived up on the clouds, moving wherever the wind takes me, at peace in the silence of the sky.
You see, that was my problem: silence. I couldn't speak. When I was about 2, there was some kind of freak accident and my throat was affected, therefore stopping me from speaking. I'm mute and I absolutely hate it. I feel left out of everything, considering I have no friends whatsoever. I'm not surprised at that one, all things considered."GET DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW!!!!!"
I froze.
"Are you deaf too? Get down here, you stupid girl."
As I came into view of the ground, I saw my mother standing there with fury etched into her features.
"We have been over this multiple times, Amelie Juniper. We don't leave the house without permission! Then again, I wouldn't mind it if YOU got lost or stolen. Actually, I'd be quite happy. Move along now, back to your room immediately. Your punishment for disobeying the rules shall be no lunch or dinner today. You may have a slice of bread for breakfast. Go."
I looked at her.
"Well? We don't have all day!" She demanded.
I sighed heavily and ran back to the hell that is my life.
