Screams of pure agony bounced off the buildings as people raced around. I looked over the mass trying to figure out what was going on from my porch. My father roughly grabbed my arm and pulled me into the house. He slammed the door shut and shifted the deadbolt with a click.
"Dad, what the hell is going on?" I ask, panic beginning to claw at my chest.
"Celeste, I need you to take this," he said holding out his .45 caliber out to me," I need you to take this, and promise me, no matter what happens you'll keep running." My father said, rushing his breath.
"Dad, I don't understand. What's going on?" I choked up.
He looked at me and quickly pulled me into a hug and kissed my forehead.
"I don't know." He whispered, "But we got to run, and you gotta survive."
Then before I knew it my dad was pulling me down the streets, racing away from whatever it was. The gun held tightly in my hand.
We ran, we shoved our way through the crowds. I could hear screams behind us, then I heard a blood chilling howl. Like that of a hurt animal wailing for help.
"Keep running!" My father yelled, pulling me along, faster. We saw the city gates, people clawing and begging at the people on the other side. Pleading for them to open the gate.
"Dad!" I choke out as the fear clawed its way farther up my body. He paused and looked around, then pulled me down a different street. We bolted as fast as we could, to wherever my dad was pulling me. Then he stopped over a manhole cover and quickly opened it. He glanced behind me and paled. Which is when I turned around and saw the heinous beasts, racing toward us, their paws silent as the wind. My dad then quickly grabbed my arm and forced me down the hole. I clung to the ladder, while still clutching the gun. As soon as I about had my feet on the sewer concrete, I heard the cover shut, and looked up to realize dad wasn't coming down.
"Dad!" I scream, and started to climb the ladder back up.
"Run!" He yelled, "you gotta surv..." his last words were cutting off as a loud thud hit the ground from above, accompanied by his screams of agony. Blood dripped down the holes... onto my face.
Adrenaline took over and I quickly slid down and ran in the direction I thought the gate was. Tears streamed down my face.So this is my intro chapter to this book. Let me know what you think, and I would like y'all to comment and let me know if I should keep updating this one!
What type of creatures do you think are attacking? Do you think Celeste is gonna survive for long?
