Nora woke up to frantic phone calls from her "manager" and best friend James.

"This better be something important, J" she said with a sleepy voice.

Laughing, James says, "Nora please just check your email right now".

She dug around beside her bed looking for her laptop. Great, it was dead.

"Hold on J I have to find my charger" Nora said as she threw the phone down.

"For fucks sake Nora hurry up!" James said with agitation, not like Nora heard him anyway.

Nora finally got her laptop plugged in and picked up the phone, while she was logging in James wouldn't shut up about the email. She was starting to get a bit anxious, what could be so important?

Then she saw it.

An email with the subject line "Looking for new songwriters". She tried not to get excited, she'd gotten her hopes up to only be crushed too many times. Being a songwriter was Nora's dream. Seeing as she was a decent singer as well, she'd had moderate success in the bar and club scene in the Southeast but no major exposure. She was still waiting for her big break.

"So have you read it yet?" James asked impatiently.

"Would you calm the hell down? I'm trying!" Nora was getting more and more nervous.

She opened the email and skimmed through. What she saw made a wave of anxiety wash over her.

"James is this some kind of joke? Who really sent this?" Nora said with a shaky voice.

"Remember my cousin Paul, the producer? He's been throwing your name around out in California. Apparently somehow it got back to the guys in Avenged Sevenfold and they like your style so much they want you to come out to California and help them work on their next album. Some kind of interactive thing for the fans they're working on too." James explained.

Nora barely heard. Her vision went blurry, her heart pounded in her ears. She couldn't believe it. Years of touring the coast, posting Youtube videos and pouring her heart out on paper were finally paying off. At 27 she was going to do something big. She didn't even know how to feel or what to think.

"J, come over right now. I think I'm gonna pass out."

"Okay don't do that", James said laughing, "I'll head over there in just a minute."

They said their goodbyes and Nora sat staring at the wall for a few minutes. Not even thinking just trying to process. It didn't feel real.
