It was a pretty cloudy day when I woke up this morning. It looked as if it might rain. I slowly stood up from my bed and got dressed. I was still tired so I stumbled down the stairs. I went to sit at the table in the dinning room. "Good morning Toby", my mother said to me.

"Good morning", I said back.

"Would you like me to make you some eggs for breakfast?" she then asked.

"Sure", I responded. I looked around the room. "Where's dad?"

"He's outside", she answered. Without hesitation, I stood up from the table, and walked out the door. I looked around again, and saw my father commanding the construction workers to fix a building. It was upsetting to watch because they have to fix many buildings and other landmarks constantly throughout the year. This is all thanks to the destruction of the dragon

The town has been terrorized by the dragon for many years now. I've been told that it has been going on since the day I was born. Though in truth i was not very old. This year i would be turning 13, but it still was a pain to have a destructive force coming practically every year. The dragon has not been around recently, but we also have not quite finished rebuilding the town after the last attack. It only seems to come when we finished rebuilding whatever it had previously destroyed, and despite the multiple defenses we used to try to stop it over the years, such as; electric fences, brick walls, and guns, It always managed to destroy some kind of structure, as well as kill at least a dozen people. Everyone in the town started to think that it would be impossible to stop the dragon, but that day our luck would change.

I went back inside to see that my eggs were done, and there was a piece of toast with some orange juice on the side. I stared at my food for a few seconds as if I thought it would start moving. I first took a bite of my egg, and watched the sticky, yellow yoke leak out. I then grabbed my toast, dipped it in the yoke, and proceeded to take a bite from it. Lastly I drunk some of my juice to finish my eating routine. Before I took another bite of my egg, my father walked in the house. "Good morning son," he said when he saw me.

"Good morning dad," I said back, then took the next bite of my egg.

"I see you slept in today. Its already past 10:00.". I looked at him and nodded

"Did they finish reconstructing the last building?" my mom asked my dad.

"Not quite. Its still gonna take a little more time." He sat down at the table. "But I'm tired of needing to reconstruct everything every single year, and I'm tired of watching my citizens die. That dragon is a menace, and it must be stopped."

"But honey, we already used all the defenses we had and none of them were able to prevent it from attacking."

"I know". He rubbed his face with both of his hands. "I just...... I just wish", he stood up, and walked over to a shelf where he keeps a stone that he calls 'his lucky charm', then picked it up. "I just wish that I could find some way to stop that dragon." He put his head down and there was silence.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. My dad quickly walked over to open it. It was one of the town patrol soldiers. "Excuse me MR. Mayor," he said, "but there appears to be a man approaching the town and he is carrying a weapon".

"Just one man," my dad asked.

"It appears to be that way," the soldier responded.

"Alright. Then send 4 armed troops to confront him. I'll be there in a minute."

"Yes sir." The man quickly ran to do as my father ordered.

"Can I go too dad?" I asked him.

"No son, It could be dangerous"

"But that's not fair. You never let me go anywhere." I started throwing a tantrum

"fine,"  he then said as he put something into his pocket. "But stay behind everyone and run away if  the stranger starts attacking."  I nodded my head to let him know I understood. He then walked me out the door.

My dad and I met with the 4 soldiers in front of the town. I stood behind them like I was told to do. A man was walking towards the town slowly with his head facing down. He carried a sword over his right shoulder with his right hand, and what seemed to be another person over his left shoulder with his left hand. "Halt!" my dad yelled out to the man. He was still quite a far distance away. The man stopped in his tracks. "State your name and business". The man was silent. "I said, state your name and business", my father repeated. The man finally spoke.

"I heard what you said. I'm just a traveler looking for a place to rest".

"How do I know your not an assassin? Its bad enough that my citizens are being killed by a dragon. I don't need some stranger doing it too." The man looked up at my father for a brief moment. It seemed like he started smiling.

"I'm sorry, but did I just hear you say dragon?" He then asked.

"Yes I did," My father responded. "Why does it matter?" The man held his head up again, and started walking closer. " I think I can help you with your problem, if you give me a place to stay".

"Stop where you are!" my father yelled out, and pulled out a gun that he had in his pocket. The man stopped once again. "Not a step closer, or we will shoot you." The man smiled.

"As if your bullets would even hurt me. I'm trying to help you out. Besides, you wouldn't want to hurt kids." The man kneeled down and placed the person on his left shoulder on the floor. It was actually 2 kids. One a boy, and the other a girl. I could tell my father was in deep thought. It took him a minute to respond. "Ok," he finally said. You may enter, but could you at least tell us your name?"

"of course," The man responded. "My name is Draig. Draig Onslayer."

Draig picked up the 2 kids, and continued walking into town. As he walked by, he took a quick glance at me. He was actually very frightening to me. He stood around 6 foot tall, had spiked up black hair, and a very masculine face.  Since he was wearing jeans and no shirt, I could see that  he had abs and muscles like a body builder. Not to mention that the sword he carried was huge. It was at least 3 feet long, and at least 6 inches wide. After he entered the city, my father picked me up and followed him. The soldiers followed as well.

 The soldiers followed as well
