When Everything Falls Apart

I offered him my hand to help him stand up. When he stood up, we went out of the room and we went outside. He obviously was exhausted from all that screaming, so I let him catch his breath before I ask him all these questions.

"Where are they?" I asked him

"They went into the city" He replied

"What are they going to do anyways?" I asked him again

"I'll explain later, but we must go now" He exclaimed

He headed to the car that Neil left and I followed his lead. He broke the car's window and opened it from the inside. He got inside then he effortlessly hot-wired the car while I was just standing there in awe.

"What are you waiting for? Get in." He said as he revved the engine

I immediately went inside the car. I sat beside him. I was just about to fasten my seat belt when he quickly stepped on the accelerator. We drove past the fence as if it wasn't there in the first place. We drifted through the rocky path to the outskirts of town.

"Where did you learn to do that?" I said in my amusement

"Well, you have to learn to do that as a government agent, especially since I'm in the "security" sector of the government." He said

He drove the car as if it was on a highway despite being just in town. He drove quite smoothly and persistent without stopping until we got to the city. There was a massive traffic jam most likely because it's the time of the day where people would need to go to their respective offices and jobs. Clark became pretty agitated being in the traffic jam with constantly sounding off his horn.

"I forgot to ask earlier, what are they doing? and why are we following them?" I asked him

Suddenly, we were jolted by a deafening and powerful boom. We found out that it was a building that exploded. The building that was about 3 blocks away from us had collapsed down to the ground and has created another thunderous roar. Following that was a cloud of dust blowing through with force throughout the roads and streets.

"That's why." He said with nervousness as he unbuckled his seatbelt

"What?!" I shouted as he went out of the car

I unbuckled my seatbelt and also went out of the car to follow him. Despite that the explosion was over, it was still loud with the piercing shrieks and screams from the crowd. We were going against the crowd by going to the collapsed building instead of going away from it, which  should turn some heads, but thankfully no one did.

When we got close, we became basically blind because of the thick smoke and dust cloud. We were also rained on by blown papers and other stuff that survived the initial explosion. When we reached "Ground Zero", we were greeted by several lifeless bodies under solid blocks of cement while some were impaled by long steel beams.

We searched for survivors along the way on finding any androids. But we were out of luck as all of the people we saw along the way were dead. We saw a lot of arms and hands sticking out of the rubble, but what we found the most abundant there was blood. Almost every rubble had blood splashed on them.

Eventually, we got to the center of the collapsed building. What we found there were three erected long rubble blocks that stood with one another like a pyramid. Upon these rocks, there were written words like "Extinction", "End of your Reign" and "Slaves No More" but on the top on each block was written with large characters, "Vive Les Androïdes". Which was a French phrase roughly translated as "Long Live The Androids". Below the phrase was an android logo that was quickly and messily spray painted in red.

Finally, I had figured out their objective in this. I remember the words that Nathan used himself as he explained it,

"I thought it would be the best quencher for that thirst for revenge in the least amount of lives lost."

I looked back and I asked myself, "Are the humans truly bad enough that they deserve a punishment like this?".  Was I too weak to forgive them easily or was I too strong that I had already forgotten the horrors of the night that I became free. Either way, there is definitely something wrong with me and my judgment.

I still believe to this very day that the humans still have some goodness in them, Neil and Rachel are good examples of that. However, I'm not that sure about Neil, since I still believe that he's been the one that kept Clark in that horrid room. Although the happenings earlier made me disbelieve my theory.

Clark called me and told me that we should go before the the police comes because we may get accused for the bombings here. On the edge of the building, some people have already came and they were collecting victims.

On our way, we saw a man weeping for his dog that got killed. We thought, "Oh sure. That's not that bad.". But as we got closer to the edge, we faced some grueling and stomach-churning stuff that will definitely keep me up at night

Along the way, we saw an injured little kid, probably about 4-5 years old, trying to wake up the body of her lifeless mother. She kept weeping and crying out "Wake up Mommy!". I started to run away from that as I couldn't handle that. Guilt came through me like a tsunami, flowing through all of my veins. My eyes were becoming wet and my legs were shaking.

I stopped running for awhile to catch my breath. As I stopped, I witnessed a Father crying while carrying his dead infant daughter. The face of the child was so peaceful that it was disturbing. It reminded me of Baby Katie who I could remember was crying as her mother was being murdered by his father.

I came across one more. I saw an old man, presumably a grandfather, digging out the bodies of his son and his three grandchildren, who were stuck in a position where the four embraced each other, as they embraced their deaths.

I couldn't handle it. My heart was pounding hard, my breathing was fast, I was tearing up as if I was sweating them and not crying them up. Not was I just covered in guilt, but also in snow and ashes that fell down upon us. I couldn't handle the thought of all these lost lives that could've had a bright and promising future for them but was lost just because of the wants and selfishness of a group of people.

I stopped walking completely and I've fallen to the ground. But Clark had pulled me and brought me with him. My brain said to keep walking but my body wants to stop. I couldn't resist it. It was way too powerful for me.

But the noises of the helicopters that flew above us and the sirens of a hundred police cars had snapped me awake and had me back at my feet. On our way, we were blocked by several crowds that were feasting on some innocent police androids and by feasting, I meant beating up. They were beating up the androids for being what they are despite that they didn't have any involvement with the happenings.

Now that I've seen this, I've became conflicted. I stated that the humans were good but now this contradicts with that. I don't even know what's wrong and right anymore. Well, my brain couldn't differentiate what's right or wrong but I'm hoping that my heart and intuition still knows what the right and wrong is.
