I take a deep breath and try for a less awkward smile as Jaden walks my way, his walk confident and his eyes on me.
Relax, trust yourself. I'm knocked out of my reverie as Jaden himself gets knocked to the ground by a bulking senior too engrossed in her music to care. Rushing to help him up, I go through ten possible conversation starters.
"Hey," his hesitant eyes stare up at mine as he takes my hand to pull himself up. "Goo-hi" Forget ten possible conversation starters, I almost managed to say 'Good morning' instead of 'Hi.' Go figure. The only thing that made me feel better was that Jaden looked awkward too.
