Chapter 5: Finding You

I'm searching. Trying to find Niall. I burst out of the Senior loft, running down the hallways to get to him. I turn around the corner, only to find myself face-to-face with Mr. Donnovan. "Oh, sorry." I say and begin to head to the lunchroom as I hear him reply.

"Sadia, you better not run anymore in these hallways- it's not safe!" I hear him call. I ignore him. I have something that's way more important in mind. I turn another corner to the left this time, and enter the cafeteria to find Niall. To my luck, this is the biggest lunch period of the day, and everyone is scattered, even a few sitting outside. I stop and check out the whole cafeteria. Seniors everywhere, from table 1 to bar 14. There are a few boys sitting by the table closest to me so I went over there to see if Niall was over there. One of the boys did a double take of me and I rolled my eyes. The guys at his table laughed as I walked away. What idiots. I walk up and down all the isles and bars and no signs of Niall. I begin to head outside when I hear my name being called. Niall? I turn around to see Luke coming after me. I hurry up and half slam the door in his face. I wish he would just leave me alone. I search the whole outside and still no sign of Niall. Where the hell was he? I walked back inside, with no sign of Luke, thank God, and sighed. I give up. I decide to head back to the Senior loft, disappointed. I walk slowly, half dragging my feet and meeting with Mr. Donnovan again. "Nice to see you walking, Ms. Dalien." I shrug my shoulders and continue walking down the hallway.

"Maybe he's in his room," I thought. I head towards the guys' dorms and up the stairs, where I pass a guy who is a little overweight and smelly. Yuck! It seems like forever to get to his room. If I can remember, I think his room is 224. On the right side. I'm passing room 228 and coming close to Niall's room. 

Once I find his door, I'm almost ready to knock when I hear faint sobs inside of his room. Is Niall crying? I step closer for a better listen as I hear deeper cries and a bit of mumbling. What is he saying? I hear him say something about- "stupid.. damn car.. why?" I couldn't quite understand what he was saying, so I decided to knock on the door. "Niall?" I ask, hopefully loud enough for him to hear.

"Go away," He mumbles in-between sobs. I hope he's okay. I hear a few more sniffles before I knock again.

"I'm not leaving, Niall." I say sternly. I hear him blow his nose inside and a few foot steps that seem to be getting louder. Niall opens the door and looks me right in the eyes. His eyes are bloodshot and all red from crying. His face appears red also, along with his nose. "Niall, what's wrong? You can tell me, I'm serious. Please let me in." He opens the door all the way and gestures to his bed. I start moving towards the bed.

"Look, Sadie, about the other night--"

"I know, Niall. I know what happened. You know, with your arm and all. You didn't have to do that for me, Niall. Seriously. I would've lived. You didn't need to hurt yourself like that for me." I stand up from off his bed as he comes closer to me and sits on the floor. Niall grabs his knees and brings them closer to his face, covering his eyes and wrapping his arms around himself. He starts bawling again, this time harder. "Niall, talk to me, please." 

"Sadie, it hurts so- bad," He says in-between sobs. "I had, to, get you- out. You- could've, died. I didn't want, to be-" He can't finish his sentence. He takes a deep breath and lets it out. "I didn't want to be responsible for that. You, you're, important to me. I see something different in you than any other girl I've met." He put his head back down and cries. I go over to help comfort him.

"Niall, I--" I put my arms around him and held him for a good five minutes. "Please stop crying, Niall. Please." I say softly, trying not to scare him. He looks up from his crying spell, and looks me right in the eyes. "I don't understand why you're crying, Niall. Tell me. I can tell there is something bothering you!" He just stares at me. I look back at him.
