"I am Lord Voldemort." - Tom Riddle Jr.
-------------------------------------------------------
I opened my eyes and sat up slowly. I appeared to have been on the staircase outside the great hall. How did I get here? "The dead girl's parents will be coming up to the school tomorrow." I turned onto my heel to see a young boy behind me. I frowned. He seemed familiar, but I was sure I had never seen him before.
Follow the boy. A voice hissed inside my head. I jolted.
"Who are you?!" The voice hissed angrily.
Do as I say! I walked towards the older boy and followed him as he slowly stepped down the stairs. The expression on his face was a mixture between triumph and concern.
A group of others suddenly rushed into the room carrying a stretcher with a blanket over it. I let out a horrified gasp as a pale unmoving arm was exposed. "Hogwarts will have to be shut down. We'll send the students home first thing tomorrow morning, and notify the parents." With that, they scattered, all except one person.
The older boy suddenly stirred, and swiftly walked past me. Follow the boy! I jolted and sprinted after him.
"Riddle! You should be in bed. It wouldn't do for you to be caught wandering around out of bed past hours."
"Tom Riddle." I whispered in horror. It was him. He had succeeded in playing me like a puppet, and it was his voice in my head, controlling me. I had to break free. As if sensing my rebellion, a force pushed me to the ground.
Listen, you silly girl! I froze.
"Professor, I'm sorry, but I had to see if the rumors were true." He did not sound sorry in the slightest.
"I'm afraid they are."
"So it's the end? Headmaster Dippet is sending everyone home? But I have no-you're aware of my living arrangements."
"I am. But I'm afraid that unless this monster is caught, we're left with no choice."
"So if this all ended, and whoever behind it was caught-"
The professor eyed him in suspicion. "Is there something you wish to tell me?"
"Professor Dumbledore!" I shouted in realization.
He cannot hear you.
"Shut up! Shut up!" I yelled in frustration. "Take me back!"
As you wish. A bright light shone in front of me and seconds later, I was propelled from the diary. I fell to the floor, breathing hard. I quickly grabbed the diary and raced to the girl's bathroom, tossing it into the toilet and running back up to the common room.
"Well, well. Look who's out of bed past hours again." I turned and leaned against the wall, panting and wiping the sweat from my forehead.
"Not now, Draco, please." He immediately frowned and I noticed he wasn't flocked by Crabbe and Goyle like he usually was.
"What's up with you?"
"Nothing. I'm fine, just saw something." I panted.
"Was it the monster?!"
"Do you think I'd be alive if it was!" I retaliated.
"No need to get so snappy, what crawled up your arse?" He retorted.
"Nothing. Nothing. I'm going back to sleep. I didn't see you out at night and you didn't see me."
"Be careful, you're too clumsy." He added as an afterthought. I rolled my eyes and stumbled up the stairs.
