Chapter Four
After lunch we went to Naruto’s for my backpack then it was house-hunting time! Turns out, Naruto was a really bad tour-guy and after a while we gave up the search for the Uchiha part of the Village and went hunting down Suske instead. That was way easier-he was laying under a tree near the main building. But once we found him, getting him to talk was another challenge.
“You’re kidding me, right?! You won’t tell us where to find old man Tosu’s place even though you know where it is!” yelled Naruto.
“Nope.” Suske was a total dickhead. And I don’t call people names. Naruto was still arguing and I sighed and pulled out a miniature puppet I got for my eleventh birthday. I was a junior puppeteer myself and I had no problem connecting chakra threads to a small puppet. Moving it around wasn’t a bother, either. But I never used it for fighting. I played around with that small puppet only when I got really bored.
“Stop being a brat and tell me!”
“You’re the one to talk, midget.”
“Hey, hey, hey, don’t start, ok? I just wanna know where old man Tosu’s place is! And it’s not even for me, it’s for Lily!”
“Tosu had trust from my clan. I don’t trust her.”
I looked up and made the puppet jump on his head. He looked surprised, but only for a second. He got that bored look again.
“Are you mad because I beat you? You have yourself to blame for that, you know. You’re the one who’s not training hard enough.”
He sprung up and I made the puppet jump back to my side.
“You want a rematch? It’s on.”
“It won’t make a difference. If you were weak yesterday, you’re weak today.”
“Wanna bet?”
“Fine by me. You’re the one who’s throwing away the money. Naruto, let’s go,” I put away my puppet and stood up, “We’ll find it ourselves or ask for directions. Don’t bother.”
“Hey! What about our rematch!?” yelled Suske.
“Lost interest. Besides, we’re on the same team-we should be learning how to work together instead of against each other.”
“You may be on our team but you’re still the enemy.”
Naruto just kept looking from him to me and back at him. He was probably beginning to feel something was boiling up inside me and I had to push it back down.
“Take it as you wish. We’re out of here.”
I started walking and Naruto followed. He was still confused a little.
“You’re right, that guy’s a pain,” I said once we were out of earshot.
“Tell me about it,” he said and clenched his fists, “One day I’d like to be strong enough to take him.”
“Why the interest? I wouldn’t bother, not with a guy like that. I have nothing to prove.”
“I do. He makes me look bad every chance he gets.”
“Oh, I see. You want him to acknowledge you.”
“That’s right, that’s right! I hope you can come up with a justu so we can kick his ass.”
I laughed. He was pumped about it. “Don’t worry; I’ll come up with something.”
We were suddenly standing at the gate that read Uchiha. Well, that was easy. And old man Tosu’s house wasn’t far away. It was nicely hidden in the trees and Teuchi wasn’t kidding when he said it was overgrown with vines.
