Walking home from school was always a bit of a strange time for Addison. With all the people around her, it kept her mind very busy to say the least.  She couldn't help it, really. They were all so different, heading off in different directions. Some of them were in groups, and others were alone, heads bent down to avoid the thrashing rain. It was no wonder she could come up with a million stories for each person. Everything was worthy of a story if you had the mind for it.

The kid walking home with his earphones in could actually be on his way to the biggest social group that anyone had. Maybe he was the friendliest person you could ever meet if you met him outside of the school that he hated, because maybe he wasn't good enough for the school's standards. Or maybe he was too good for the school, and that was why he was alone. No, he probably just preferred to be alone. Maybe he just lived in a different direction to his friends.

Addison looked over at Kya for a moment, who was chatting away to Ezra as they walked. They both knew not to bother trying to talk to Addison this close to the school, because she got distracted no matter what the topic was. Her mind was too busy for her to focus on anything but the stories in her head.

There was a blonde girl with her hair up in a tangled pony tail. She was sprinting through the clumps of people, splashing through puddles, the water jumping up around her feet. She was soaked, and Addison still couldn't help but wonder why she was running. She could have been late for something, or maybe she had seen someone at the end of the street and was running to catch up with them. Perhaps the other person wasn't waiting, and she was actually just running so she wasn't left behind. Who was she running to? A friend? Sibling? Maybe it was a parent. It could have been a parent that they only saw on the weekends and seeing them around was a strange occurrence. The child running to the parent because they couldn't wait another five days to see them again.

It was probably just the rain. Maybe she hated the rain and was trying to get out of it and Addison was just placing herself into her stories again. That might be it.

As she felt the cold droplets on her face, Addison couldn't understand why anyone could hate the rain. There was something about it that was almost pure, like bad things being washed away. Of course, nothing was actually being washed away, apart from perhaps someone's makeup, but it was the cold and the harshness that made Addison like it more. Rain was unapologetic. It got everywhere if you let it. Addison valued the rain, though she wasn't completely sure why.

They turned a corner, approaching a main rain. There were deep puddles at the sides of it; many cars splashed through them even though they knew schoolkids were close by. They were probably in too much of a rush to realise. Or maybe they didn't care. Addison glanced over at the sisters again, noticing how as Kya was talking Ezra was looking at something ahead of them. She followed Ezra's line of sight and saw a boy in the middle of a group, pretty much completely surrounded. He seemed a little zoned out, staring out into the road as if he could see something no one else did. Addison knew who it was. His name was Luke, and she only knew that because he played on a sports team. There were a few guys in her year that didn't mind his presence, so she guessed he was an okay guy, not that she knew much more than that.

"Who's that?" Addison asked after a while of watching Ezra stare at the boy, wondering if she had got it wrong.

Kya glanced over too, a smile creeping onto her face when she realised. She answered Addison instead. "That's Luke."

"Why is she staring?" Addison said, but she had a feeling she already knew the answer.

The older sister bounced her eyebrows and smirked. "She likes him."
