Things happen around us everyday. Things we don't seem to realize at first, if ever. A husband beats his wife. A human neglects an animal he's supposed to love. A woman screams at the son she's had for twelve years. A teen commits suicide because she was pushed too far. And I've realized something. In our messed up world, so much happens we can't begin to fathom the millions of possibilities. Those people living across the street? They may not be who you think they are, but not everyone is a criminal. Some people are just fake.
If you've ever read the book Paper Towns by John Green, you already know that his input was that a paper town is so fragile that just one push could make the whole thing topple like dominoes. But, who lives in a Paper Town? Why, that would be Paper People, of course. The people who lie and hurt others, only caring about themselves and their pleasure. They don't care about the affect they have on so many people. They don't care that the child they're supposed to love was hurt beyond repair. They don't care that they're ripping their little paper selves along with the people who stand beside them.
Another form of Paper People is another example of being fake. Talking about a person behind their back and smiling to their face. Starting rumors for fun or to get revenge. Acting all high and mighty and then in your free time, pushing people until they break. Humans are bad at this. I don't think I've encountered very many people who aren't as flimsy as a piece of paper.
I've seen another form of paperiness. (Weird word?) And it involves people who mainly don't even know they're flimsy. The ringleaders/criminals get them on their side, by charm or even bribery. And pretty soon, these twisted people have their own little army of paper figures.
Now, I'm not saying everyone is made of paper. There are genuinely real people out there. Somewhere. You just have to ask yourself,"How does what I do affect others?" Don't become a Paper Person, don't be flimsy and easy to persuade into doing the wrong thing. Don't be fake, just be genuine. Stop hurting the people you love, or even dislike. Because one day, it'll truly matter. Maybe not now, maybe not even anytime soon. But one day you will be judged, even if it's by your closest friends. But then again, how does a Paper Person, or a criminal, have any friends? They only see the people close to them as pieces of an army. A Paper Army. Something so breakable even a child could change it.
And a child will change things. The thing about paper is that it was once wood. These people who become paper, maybe they can find their way back to being solid. But then again, raping a child or stealing a life isn't really the makeup of a person I would want becoming strong again.
So my message is this: don't be a Paper Person. If you know of something going on that's twisted or wrong, let people know. Be genuine, and please just love other people! It's ridiculous how humans have the need to inflict pain on others.
