Chapter 25

~3 Years Later~

~River's POV~

I was playing with Rylan and Malik, smiling as they also played with their big brother Tony. The kids smiled at me.

I was waiting on Niall's call, being that we hadn't seen each other since the beginning of the Drag Me Down Tour. Rylan sat on my lap, her eyes sparkling like Niall's. Malik had his dad's hair and I couldn't help but laugh softly at it.

That's when I heard the Skype ringtone. Rylan's and Malik's eyes lit up, "Daddy!!".

I chuckle and answer Liam's call.

"Yes," I ask.

"River! Turn on the news," Liam frantically says.

I tell Tony to turn on the TV and I gasp when I see Entertainment Tonight.

"It seems, Niall Horan is having a bad day," the lady reporter says, then they show footage of Niall taking off his headset and storming off stage.

Did I cause this, I ask myself, thinking a petty and sometimes silly argument of mine and Niall's got to him.

"Is he on the bus," I ask Liam as Rylan and Malik crowd around me to see their uncle.

"No. He's out at a bar," Liam says.

I just nodded, "O-okay.".

Liam and I hang up, then I put the kids to bed. Once that was done, I sit on the couch, texting Niall and not getting any replies. I kept telling him sorry for whatever I did to him if I did something wrong.

That's when the tears started falling and my eyes became puffy. I took a picture of myself like that, then I sent it with the caption, 'You're scaring me baby. I'm sorry for hurting you.'.

I sit my phone down and put the ringer on silent. I get up and find Niall's hoodie he gave me, then I pull it on along with an old pair of his jogging pants.

Finally I laid on the couch, not seeing my phone's screen lighting up with texts and missed calls. Tears fell again as I slept.

I don't remember hurting his feelings...
