                                                      Chapter One: Burned.

I crossed the dance floor with the elegance and confidence of an immortal. I was playing in dangerous territory and I loved it. I lived off of the adrenalin that was pumping through my veins. The corners of my lips were lifted into a coy smile, yet my eyes screamed of danger. Heads turned and stared as I walked by. Heads of innocent, blind mortals. Winking at a man who stopped dancing with his girl so he could turn and stare at me, I easily slipped a switch blade from my snug jeans. With one click on the side the switch blade would be glinting in the lights. My body moved fluidly with the music pumping through the night club. The strobe lights were making my easy, sauntering movements more fluid then they really were.

I was being reckless and I loved it. I could feel every vampire in here watching my each step, listening to the rapid beat of my heart, and calculating my every movements. Some of the vampires in this club screamed of power while others reaked off weakness. Even though my eyes were focused right in front of me I can feel a vampire moving slowly and steady behind me. I'd say he wants me to be his pray for the night.

I tossed the switch blade back and forth between my hands letting all the vampires here know I came for blood and I plan on getting it. It was so dark in here I could barley make out the faces surrounding me. Bodies were clashing, rubbing, and coming together like there was no tomorrow; the funny thing was for some there would be no tomorrow.

I made my way to my destination and sat down at a bar stool turning my back to everyone in the club. I crossed my curvy legs and put on an innocent smile for the bartender.

"May I have a glass of water?" I tilted my head and smiled while speaking in a sultry voice.

The man turned around and gave me a once over. I couldn't make out his eye color because of how dark the club was but I knew he was an immortal. A weak one. I need a strong one to manipulate and get answers from not someone like this man. I like playing with fire even if I get burned in the long run.

"Make that two." A smooth, lilting voice spoke up from behind me.

I knew he was following me. His power was slamming into me the whole time I made my way to the bar. I also knew he knew that I knew he was following me. Powerful immortals were meant to be smart.

"Two on the way." The bartender turned around and began pulling out two glass cups. I watched the club lights dance across his back as he moved in rapid movements filling up the expensive looking glass.

Setting the knife down between my legs, I spun the smooth bar stool around and stared up into the most gorgeous man I have seen in my life. I forced my eyes to stay blank as I silently admired the man in front of me. He had glossy, midnight black hair that made his emerald, green eyes stand out. His jaw line was very straight, yet he had a crooked nose showing that it had been broken once or twice before. If he cared he would have snapped it back into place but he didn't... Usually vampires care about their looks a lot. His shoulders were nice and broad, his muscles stood out from underneath his fitted, white t shirt, and his jeans looked real nice on his legs. He definitely had swagger.

I brought my gaze from the bottom of his feet and back up to his eyes to let him know that I didn't care he saw me checking him out. My breath stopped though when my eyes met his soulless eyes.

"What is a beautiful lady like you doing at a club like this all alone?" His voice sent more then one chill down my spine and made me curl my toes in my shoes reflexively. I couldn't drag my eyes away from his, excitement was coursing through me, and all I wanted to do was ravish his body with my tongue and my hands.
