A house badge is the most important thing a magician owns. It allows magicians to know that you are one to in other worlds and wich house you belong to.
There are three houses : Sahir, Kouzlo and Gahum. Magicians chose wich house they want to belong to at the age of 16, before that they have the same house badge as their parent or guardian. They chose their house according to the magic studies they want to do.
House badges disintegrate when they are not in presence of magic so Callum not having a house badge can only mean he doesn't have his powers anymore.
There are only three ways a magician can loose his powers : he lost them because he was to weak, they were stolen by a Baichi (only creatures strong enough to steal magic) or you were banned from using them by Gerard, The Grand Leader.
Andy's eyes were getting larger and larger, and his jaw was dropping further and further down as I explained all of this to him.
"Crap" is all he manages to say.
Andy wasn't born a magician so he doesn't know all of this stuff. His powers developed recently. No one really knows how, because none of his ancestors were magicians. It happened about a week ago, and so fast that he still has no idea what the heck is going on.
A case like his has only ever happened once before in 978 and it lead to the biggest war between two different worlds to ever happen. At least now we know better than to let the humans know we exist.
