“No no come on come on just a little bit faster.” Colt whispers under his breath because he really didn’t want to lose. He looks over at his opponent, who looks completely calm.
“Go Go come on buddy, You can do it.” He hears someone chant all around him but he wasn’t sure who it was for so he blocked it out. He couldn’t lose this game or everyone would hold it over his head and he would never live it down.
“Come on come on.” He starts but then saw the dreaded end and he wasn’t where he needed to be. “No no no.” He chants but it’s too late and his opponent crosses the finish line before he does. He throws his head back and groans.
“Damn Ethan, you spanked him.” He hears Matt laugh out and watches him laughing a long side Toby.
“Shut up you loser. Just because he can beat me doesn’t mean you can.” Colt shoots at him and shoots Ethan a wink. He smiles when he sees Ethan smile brightly back at him.
“Oh you sure about that?” Matt teases as he stands up and starts calling Colt out. Colt laughs and faces the challenge.
“Watch it Matt I just might snap like a glow stick.” Colt shoots Matt a smirk. Matt wraps Colt’s neck in a headlock trying to pull him to the ground. Both boys wrestled playful throwing harmless insults and threats.
Ethan turns to see his brother laughing on the couch, smiling so brightly and having fun and it made Ethan’s heart fly. It’s been so long since he has seen Luke smile like that. He has been depressed for so long that even though he has smile it was never a smile that reached his eyes but now with Noah by his side Ethan doesn’t remember ever seeing Luke like that in ages. For that reason he would always be thankful for Noah. He just hoped it wasn’t the last time he saw it.
“I bet 5 dollars on Matt.” Toby whispers to Jake and Ethan.
“Yeah right I already owe you like 20 bucks.” Jake complains and turns back to his fighting siblings.
“Yeah right little bro. Try 45.”
“I’ll take you up on that offer.” Ethan having faith in Colt. Ever since he met Colt he always felt like this boy would be full of surprises.
Toby raises his eyebrow and holds out his hand. “Alright you are on little man.” Ethan smiles and shakes Toby’s hand. Toby chuckles and ruffles Ethan’s hair.
“Whoa hold up Ethan I heard that. You don’t exactly have 5 dollar to bet.” Luke calls out from the couch. Both Noah and Andy, who Luke was sitting in between of, laugh and shakes their head.
“Thanks Luke but they didn’t know that.” Ethan says sarcastically.
“It’s fine. First bet is on the house.” Toby adds as he makes him self more comfortable on the couch that he now had all to himself.
“What are you kidding me?” all the foster kids that were in the room yell out. They practically had their jaws on the floor.
“That is bullshit. The first day I was here you got me for a bet that cost me 15 dollars.” Jake says in an outrage.
“Yeah you take every chance you get to suck us dry.” Sam says from her spot. Luke looks at her and chuckles in the position she is in. She was lying down on a bright green bean bag upside down with her head hanging off the side reading a book.
“Are you actually comfortable?” Luke asks.
She turns her head and nods at him with a smile. “It makes the story more interesting.” She answers only to get a scoff from colt who was currently pinned down by Matt.
