It's Thanksgiving. All the boys are on tour, so you won't be able to spend the holiday with your husband Harry.Although, they are all European. They don't even celebrate Thanksgiving. You think.
But, you're still bummed. You haven't seen Harry in four months. You just got married six months ago too! You've hardly had anytime to do any married couple things whatsoever. It frustrates you, but you know that it's something you'll have to learn to live with.
Anyway, in the Thanksgiving spirit, you invited everyone over to you and Harry's house for lunch. And everyone as in EVERYONE. Liam's family, Niall's family, Louis' family, Harry's family, AND your family. None of them can see the boys either, so you might as well get together anyway. You're a little nervous. You've never hung out with most of these people without Harry and the other boys around.Oh, stop worrying! You remind yourself. It'll be just like at the wedding reception. You're gonna be fine.
Okay.
Breath.
---
You're awoken with a obnoxious "BEEP!" from your alarm clock. 7:45 AM. Phew. Let's get started.
It's the day before Thanksgiving, and you have to get the house cleaned and start cooking for all of your company arriving tomorrow.
You drag yourself out of bed, and get dressed- well, sweatpants and a tank top to be more precise.
It's your house anyway. No one can see you. No judgement. These thoughts convince you to not waste your time on makeup.
You walk downstairs from you and Harry's bedroom and go to the kitchen.
The Lucky Charms are calling to you. After a quick bowl, you plug your iPhone into the speakers you had installed around the house. You hesitate. After running back up to your room, you come back with an iPod. It's your iPod from when you were a teen. Before you knew the boys personally. It's been ages since you've looked through it. You plug it in and start playing your Favorites playlist on shuffle.
The first few notes of "One Thing" start playing. A big smile appears on your face.
So many memories...OK. Time to clean.
You leave the iPod to play what it will and begin to clean. It amazes you just how much music you listened to as a teenager. Some songs, you'd totally forgotten even existed!
You sweep the kitchen to "Roar" by Katy Perry and "Hakuna Matata" from the Lion King. Ahh Disney. Those were the days.
You dust the Living Room and Dining Room to "Little Things" (1D) and "Scars To Your Beautiful" by Alessia Cara. You sink into your couch and listen to the lyrics. These songs held so many emotions. You remember how much they comforted you in the hardest times. You remember crying your eyes out and thinking how you'd never make it. You remember skipping as many meals as you could get away with without being noticed. You remember the cuts on your wrists. These songs had helped you in so many ways. They had saved you. Had made you who you were now.You shake your head, swinging back into reality.
Keep working. Keep. Working.
---
A few hours later, after lunch, you start getting lunch ready for the next day. The boys' moms and your mother were coming earlier tomorrow to help you get most of the meal ready, but there were still a few things you needed to get done before
then.
---
"Been a lotta places- I've been all around the world.
Seen a lotta faces- Never knowing where I was."
You froze. This. Was. Your. Favorite.Breath, (Y/N). Breathe. You told yourself.
You laugh at yourself, and continue working on the pumpkin pie you're making. You nod your head to the beat, and before you know it, you're singing every word at the top of your lungs and dancing crazily.
You don't even hear the front door open.
You turn, pie in your hands, about to put it in the oven, when you see a figure in the doorway smiling at you.Harry.
Your eyes grow huge as you gasp and drop the pie. It splats upside down on the kitchen floor making a giant mess.Harry chuckles and says "Well it's nice to see you too, love."
You finally come out of your trance, scream, jumping over the open oven, and run into Harry's arms almost tackling him to the ground.
His arms find their way around your body as he pulls you closer to him."Oh, Harry!" You breathe as tears steam down your face. "What in the
world are doing here!?""I missed you too much, (Y/N). Couldn't handle it. So, I took the weekend off to come visit you."
No words come out of your mouth. You only smile and start to cry harder. You hadn't realized just how much you had missed him until he was right in front of you.
"I missed you so much. Your smile," he says as he kisses your lips, "Your eyes," he kisses your eyes gently, "Your nose," he says as he kisses your nose. A small giggle escapes your mouth. "And especially your laugh."
You bury your head in his neck, and mumble, "I'm sorry I'm a mess. I didn't know you were coming. Obviously."
He rolls his eyes at you. "You know, I think you look cuter in sweat pants and with no make up on."
You pull yourself away from him and smile. "Have you eaten supper yet, babe?" you ask with a sudden realization that it's 8:30.
"Yes, on the plane." He replies with a chuckle. "I knew you'd ask."
Harry helps you quickly clean up the ruined pie and the rest of the kitchen. You help him carry his luggage up to your room as the words of the song slowly fade to a close.
"If you ever feel alone- don't.
You are never on your own.
And the proof is in this song."
