That night, we walked. We walked for a very long time. Remus led the way, but I didn't dare to ask where we were going. We must have walked well until two o'clock before it became evident what our destination was to be.
The walls were practically collapsed. The windows were barred, supposedly, but the planks of wood had been blown aside by the wind in some areas. The wind whistled through the gaps in the glass - making its name very apt. The Shrieking Shack was by no doubt ominous.
The pair of us fell in through the chewed door. Before he closed it behind them, Remus traced the various teeth and claw marks with his toughened fingers, and I couldn't help but hear a small sigh as he did so. Meanwhile, my eyes were still adjusting to the light - or lack thereof. It was so dark, it should have had its own word. It was that kind of dark where you could never hope to see the light again... or perhaps, that was how it felt. Maybe it was just a reflection on how I felt.
Eventually, I took the initiative to draw out my wand. Dejectedly, I muttered 'Lumos'. Before me lay shattered glass, broken boards, and the traces of blood that were splattered from when Severus Snape was knocked out there all those years ago.

I don't know how or when a four-poster bed was underneath me when I awoke, but what was more unusual to me was the crumpled bedsheet beside me. I could see muddy shoe-prints leading towards the trap-door by the root of the tree - but that leads to Hogwarts, so naturally I was confused. Even though my name had been cleared since the murder mix-up, I was still cautious around large crowds - rumours and conspiracy theories were still spreading all over the Wizarding World. All I could do was wait.
After about half an hour of practisng random spells and incantations, I heard footsteps leading up to the tree-trunk. I sat up in the bed and waited - wand by my side, just in case - though Hogwarts was one of the only places that was truly safe in the world. The entrance opened and I saw Remus climbing through the small hollow in the bark - but he wasn't alone. As he stepped aside, I saw a slender figure with a pointed hat upon their head. The person straightened up, and I saw the worn, yet wryly smiling face of Minerva McGonagall.
'Sirius' she grimaced, 'hello there'.
Thank you for all the support. I'll put a new chapter up when it's requested.
