"Cassy, there's a bottle of Dr. Pepper in the fridge. Can you get it for me?" Harry asks. Pulling the shrimp in the stove.
"Sure," I say opening the fridge.
He doesn't have much food in here. Actually, the only thing he has is a pizza box.
"Harry?" I say.
"Yeah," he responds.
"Why is the only thing in here a pizza box. With only one and a half slices of pizza in it?" I ask opening it.
"That was dinner last night," he answers.
"You ate a whole pizza last night?" I ask grabbing the soda.
"No. There's still a slice and a half left," Harry says.
"Boys are so stupid," I say handing him the Dr. Pepper.
"Hey," he says taking two plastic cups out.
"God, who invited you?" he teases.
"You did, dumbass," I say taking a cup of soda.
"I did? Maybe I am a dumbass then," Harry says taking the other cup.
"Yes you are," I say.
"Just so I'm not scrambling around next time, what do you want for Christmas 2014?" Harry asks taking a swig.
"Hey I never asked you to do that," I point out.
"I know. Gee can't you just thank me for being nice already," Harry chuckles.
"Thank you. But I would like a duplex next year. And a cat," I answer.
"A duplex with a cat. That's new," Harry jokes.
"Yeah. A black and white cat named Nibbles," I explain.
"How about a black and white cat named Dusty?" Harry asks.
"What?" I raise my eyebrow.
"A lot could happen in 2014," Harry shrugs.
"Okay. Now come on, the ball is about to drop," I say walking to the living room.
"One minute till midnight!" the announcer yells on the TV.
Harry takes my hand as the ball continues to drops. 50 seconds. 40 seconds. 30 seconds. 20 seconds. Then we start counting down. "Ten. Nine. Eight. Seven. Six. Five. Four. Three. Two. One.
"Happy New Year!" we yell. Harry and I look at each other for a brief second before our lips meet. Fireworks fly and warmth pulses throughout my body.
If this is what all of 2014 is will be, I'm ready for it.
