"Josh" Adara whispered  through the soft music. I was breathless, unable to speak.

" That was-" I was at a loss for words. For the first time, I didn't want to make a comment. I wanted save this moment. I felt like I could live this for the next decade, with no thought of boredom. She finished my sentence.

"Amazing." I walked over to the bar with her hand in hand.

"Hit us with the whiskey man!" She giggled and looked deep in me. She smiled. He brought out the bottle and two glasses. He poured and set the bottle of it down. As he left the area, I looked at her. "Run." She looked scared but happy. I grabbed the large bottle and ran with her.

We kept running. All the way home. As I opened the door, I saw a note that said that sue was at a friend's. We snuck inside and I grabbed my stereo and some solo cups. As I walked out into the living room, I saw that she stood there with a blanket and her under shirt on. I played Keep on Loving You and poured us each a cup.

She lay there on the couch and I crawled in with her. She set my glass and crawled on top of me, we were not drunk, but feeling tingly. She leaned in and kissed me. Each time our lips separated I felt ready for more like her kiss was helping my drive hand in hand. Eventually, she collapsed into my arms and fell asleep again.

The hours that she was in my arms felt like minutes. I was for sure. I loved this woman. And as much as love was beautiful it was dangerous.

Just as I slipped off into sleep, a pound came from the hallway. Curiously I opened the door. Awaiting for me, a woman in a black dress and veil turned around.

"Josh-" the woman obviously knew me. "your sister is in intensive care."

"What?" I was stunned. Why come and tell me this, who does she think she is?

Answer:

     "I'm Laura, your step-mother."
