Panden P.O.V. Part 2 of chapter 1

Once back at home I felt relaxed and free, but once in the house I wanted to crawl into a corner.

"Paden, Alex, where the hell have you two been?" Sarah yelled the moment the door was open. Sarah wasn't my real mother but Alexi's real aunt. Sarah had adopted me from the koura care orphan edge when I was then, after hearing you get paid for taking care of someone else unwanted trash. Alex's mom died and around her there's probably only four true fathers, that stays with their families. And Alex's father wasn't one.

"We were down at the home of where hell was conceived." Alex said before taking off up the stairs.

Sarah was a natural drunk. She drunk for everything and that includes water replacement. 'When the water supplies runs out the only clear liquid out there will be vodka.' She always teased. Sarah was chubby but not fat and her black hair was always fluffed in a big pillow above her head.

"Liking what you see, sexy?" asked a drunk male from my side. Did I mention she always has a different man for the different days of the week, different type each week? With this week seemed to be a plumber special because the man always showed there but crack.

"I'm fifteen." I said taking a step back. I've almost been raped by one of the men Sarah brought home; he said I looked just like her. I wonder if that's what he told his wife after he slept with her mother.

"Baby kitten-"

"Jordan stops. She's my daughter." Sarah said walking into the room, cigarette right in place. (That's her mouth.)

"O family three some." He said grinning with his lop sided lips. His hair was turning gray and was thinning at the top. Where'd she get this one, I wondered, old r us?

"No. she's leaving anyway." Sarah said. There was a slight edge to her voice. She didn't like her 'men' flirting with others, even though it's a one night thing. I looked into her green eyes and she stared back with the 'leave now' look.

I ran up the stairs in a record time and slammed my door behind me. There was no lock so I shoved a chair under the knob like I've seen in movies. I fell on my bed and screamed and cried into my pillow. I tried to remember what my real mother was like, my real father. Soon I fell asleep.

"Get your ass up Paden!" Sarah yelled shaking the door knob. "And let me in this instant. If there's a boy in there he better be a fast runner. Because your virginity is mine until you move up out of my house."

I ran to the door and removed the chair, and the door flew open. Sarah walked in and looked my deep in the eyes. She was dressed up in some of her best scampi clothing and smelled like beer and Truce perfume.

"Still clean." She said straightening up.

"And exactly how do you know that?" Alex asked walking in. she had on one of her gothic tutus and fishnet t-shirts.

"Well one the smell in the room is still clean there's no order on her or the room. Two she still has that dumb baby look in her eyes. If this one was able to get some shed be glowing." I just blushed and looked away. "And third, no way would a boy be gone that fast."

When Sarah left on her mission to find her latest 'lover' Alex wanted to throw a party.

"We absolutely should not throw a party."

"O comes on. You have no friends-"

"I do too!"

"Yeah, Who? Me?"

"Yes..."

"I'm your cousin not your friend. And I say were throwing a party."

That was the end of the conversation, and Alex threw her party. For a Goth girl, she had many none Goth friends. I hated public schools, so many people, so many problems, too much drama, so I went to an all girl boarding school on the other end of the city. I knew no one and no one knew me, and that was scary. Everyone stared but never approached. Boys (and sometimes chicks) stared with want and girls with hate and boredom. Public life was so confusing.

"...she's tiny with blond hair to the middle of her back and has blue eyes with black trimming," I heard Alex say. She was surrounded by a group of people, both boys and girls and was describing me. "She's pale and has freckles around her nose. She's quite and most likely hiding." What she was doing, I wondered. Crossing my arms I walked into the overcrowded kitchen and was looking for bottle water when hands begin brushing over my ass. I yelped in surprise and spun to see a...girl?

"Hey," she said seductively.

"Hi?"I asked staring confused.

"I'm Jessica," she said. "Your name is?"

"Paden."

"Paden, cute. Anyways I just was wondering if you go to Dongles High School." So you had to touch my bottom?

"No," I said softly. "I don't."

"O okay." She looked around searching for someone. "What are you doing here then?"

I watched her for a second. "Crashing."

She laughed. "You, crashing? You look like a-"

"Alex, Paden!!?" Sarah's voice cut through the music like a butcher knife. "Everyone out of my house now!!"

When the house was clear of teens Sarah began the lecture.

"You girls just don't listen." Sarah said all in our face.

"I guess not." Alex said crossing her legs.

"Then I guess I'll have to teach yell a lesson." Sarah yelled back.

"Please don't," I finally say. With Sarah you never know what to expect. "I haven't even experienced my first kiss yet much -"

"Shut up!" Sarah yelled. "Your mother was so smart."

That shocked me, because Sarah rarely talked about my mother. "She was smart?" I asked. I would take any information on my mother as I could get.

"No...well I don't know...we are not talking about your mother."

"But you just said she was smart." I had never really given much thought about my birth parents but when someone mentioned them there was no stopping me.

That night while grounded in my room I sat at my computer desk thinking about my parents. Three months after I was born was the only time I spent with my real parents, and I had the oddest feeling there was something I was forgetting, someone else, but I guess if they where only teens it would be their parents. My grandparents. I tried to remember something anything that I knew about them, when I remembered the little information that the nun at the orphan edge had given me about my parents. I ran to my old trunk and pulled out the old journal with all the information I needed within it....
