Samantha Moore's POV:
The boys just stared at her like they had no idea what she was talking about. Oh they should have known better than that.
"I don't know what you're talking about mama, I had no idea that Sammi was coming home. Bro, why didn't you say anything?" Nicholas Wolfe, Lisa's son, asks my brother. He obviously did know but didn't want to face the wrath of his mother. Tyler, Austin, and Brandon, my brother's other friends went along with Nick as though they had no idea about my arrival. My brother just stood there looking gobsmaked. He kept opening and closing his mouth trying to find the words to say that would help him out.
Auntie Lisa turned her glare straight for my brother. She drags my brother to the living room and pushes him into a chair.
"Christian Michael Moore! You should be ashamed of yourself! Leaving your sister at the airport stranded while you partied with your friends! She was about to rent a car for herself until I found her. Did you hear me? RENT A CAR! You have about 20 cars in that garage to choose from and you were going to let this poor child rent a car." She rants, pacing in front of the chair. The boys and I all found seats in the room because we were not about to miss this. She turns to us and points to me.
"That girl has not been here since you thought it best for her to finish her high school career at a boarding school, you ripped her from her life here, away from all her friends, and she never complained. She went along with it, even if it was the last thing she wanted. She needed her family and you sent her packing. And you this is how you repay her? BY LEAVING HER ALONE AT AN AIRPORT? I am very disappointed in you Chrisitian." Aunt Lisa walks over to me and hugs me goodbye.
"You can always come stay with me and Richard if you ever need to." She whispers in my ear. I smile my thanks and she kisses my forehead before heading to the door.
"Next time I talk to Sammi, you better have made this up to her." She calls to my brother as she walks out the door slamming it shut.
We were left in silence for a while until Christian got over the shock of being scolded by Lisa. He got up and walked until he was standing in front of me. He signaled the boys to get out so we can talk in private. After they were gone he sat down next to me.
"I'm so sorry Sammi. I was being stupid and I should have paid more attention whenever you called me. I haven't been the best brother to you and I have no excuse. You just look so much like mom that I couldn't stand seeing you when it reminded me of them. How they weren't going to be around anymore. Aunt Lisa is right, I sent you away when you needed me most and I don't even come get you. I can understand if your mad at me." He whispers toward the end and looks away from me. He stands up and starts to leave but I grab his arm yanking him back down.
"I'm not mad at you Christian. I just was sad you forgot about me. When you told me you weren't at the airport It made me feel like I wasn't important to you. I thought you were going to ship me back to New York. I can't go back there Christian, it isn't my home. I hated it there and I was so happy when high school was over because I got to come back. I thought you would have been excited to see me too. I guess I was wrong." I get up and grab my stuff heading towards the stairs. When I got to them I turned and looked to my brother.
"I'll book a ticket back to New York for tomorrow morning. I'm sorry that you don't want to have me around anymore Christian. I'll get out of your hair and you won't have to worry about me. I won't bother you about coming back again. Good night Alpha Moore." I tear up and quickly walk up the stairs so he won't see me cry.
I sprint to my room and throw my stuff to the ground collapsing on my bed sobbing. I thought coming back would make me feel more alive. New York isn't a friendly place and if you don't grow up there not many want to be your friends. You have to have friends in high places at the boarding school I went to and knowing the "mayor" of a small town doesn't get you anywhere.
I pull my laptop onto my bed and research apartments available in New York. Looks like I'm headed back to the big apple. Hooray.
