Chapter 41

 I arrived home at 5:30 which gave me an hour and a half to get dressed.  Toni’s car was parked in my driveway and I pulled in right beside her.  I ran into the house and she was already in my closet looking for something for me to wear tonight.

“Girl I have been calling you all day, where have you been?”

“I have been in meeting after meeting today and I didn’t get your message until I was leaving the office.”

“Well I’m just glad you got my message.”

“Yeah I got it…but why do you feel you have to meet Kevin for dinner for him to explain to you the obvious. I don’t know what you are feeling. I’m not going to tell you not to reconsider your relationship with him. I want you to do what is best for you Nikki, not what everyone else thinks is best for you only you can decide that.”

“I know believe me I just think the only way I am ever going to be able to go on is to hear him out and let him know that there is no chance for us to reconcile our relationship.  I just want to close this chapter of my life and move on.”

“Then why in the hell you want to look sexy if you aren’t going to give him another chance?”

“I want him to remember that all this was his and now it’s gone.  I want him to be sure when he finds another woman that want to spend the rest of her life with him, he does the right thing.”

“Girl you are goofy.  I don’t think he is going to get over this any time soon.  I understand how you feel, cause if Charles has any thoughts about some dumb shit like that, I’m gonna kill him.”

“Yeah well after tonight, I will be able to get all of this anger and hurt out of my system and I will be free to move on with nothing holding me back.”

“Yeah well if you don’t come on here and get dressed, you won’t be getting rid of nothing.”

I went and jumped in the shower and Toni continued to find me some shoes and accessories to go with the royal blue backless short maxi dress.  I shut off the water and wrapped a towel around me and went back into the room and put on some body lotion.

Once I was finished I went into the bathroom again and Toni came in and styled my hair and did my makeup.  I could have done those things myself, but Toni being Toni wouldn’t let me do it.  She finished up my makeup but didn’t put on my lipstick until after I had my dress on.

“Toni, why do I have to put my dress on first before my lipstick?”

“I want you to put your dress on first because then I will know whether to put color on your lips or go with a nude gloss.”

“Ok, do what you want then…do I get color or not?”

“Nope no color just the nude gloss.  Now you are ready.”

I looked in the mirror and couldn’t believe what I saw in the mirror.

She cut my hair into a cute pixie cut with jagged bangs.  My hair was beautiful and my makeup was flawless.  I thought I was too cute…I hugged Toni and told her I would have to dance at her wedding for helping me.

She just laughed at me and kissed my cheek she handed me my purse and told me to get going she would talk to me later.  I picked up my keys and walked out the door heading to my car.

I jumped into my car I had 20 minutes to get to the restaurant on time.  Traffic was relatively light, so it only took me 10 minutes to make it to the restaurant.  Once I pulled up to the front, I got out and gave the valet my keys and headed into the restaurant.
