"Dude, you busy on Saturday?"
"Yeah"
"Oh yeah I forgot, you've got the date with Allegra." Alex sang her name out and wiggled his eyebrows.
"I don't get why you're making such a big deal out of it." I replied, staring at my half eaten apple.
"Bro, you've been mooning over this girl for what, half the year?" Alex leaned over the table and slowly drew out his words, "half of the fucking academic year, you've been staring at her and wallowing in self pity." He sat back and dramatically bit into his apple, "I'm proud of you, man."
I smiled and shook my head, "yeah well, I'm proud of me too."
"Why the long face then?"
"I'm 100% sure I'll scare her away, we're not of the same... type."
He rolled his eyes, "oh my god, we're not neanderthals, evolution has already happened, people are capable of learning and adapting ."
I stared at my best friend, "you think you sound smart but half the shit that comes out your mouth makes no sense." I picked up my disgusting apple and chucked it at the bin.
"Girls dig it," he smirked, "just say a lot string of words, run your hands through your hair and stare into space, they think its poetic."
We made our ways to class and leaning against her locker, I saw Allegra, finishing the last pages of her fancy French book.
"what is she even reading? looks foreign" the idiot mumbled, mouth full of apple.
"Zola." I breathed out and received a smack to the head.
"ugh shut up, lover boy."
