He was so annoying, why did he have to bother me? What did I ever do to him? I thought angrily. Oh yeah, I got him in trouble because I passed out next to him. His annoyed look paraded through my mind. He had such strange eyes, ones that seemed so real. I wanted to get close to those eyes, to be able to caress his cheek and stare into them for hours, trying to uncover the secrets beneath those harsh and delicately guarded eyes...
I splashed a handful of cold water onto my face feeling like my head was only getting sicker the more I thought of him, I'm sure once I rest awhile I'll feel better. I turned on my heel and walked to my bedroom door and shut it gently, hearing the Seahawks game replay on television downstairs. I stared at my door feeling oddly comfortable with someone in the house, even it was some man I never got to know and has the scariest eyes I've ever seen, well besides my own.
I had to have stood there for awhile because when I turned my eyes in the direction of the roman numeral clock above my shelves it showed a quarter-to-four.
"How am I supposed to sleep this late in the afternoon?" I groaned feeling restless and an ache to stretch and move cramped my body. The sun was out and shining brightly. Maybe I should take a jog, I thought, He can watch me in my home but he can't follow me.
I smiled and decided until after the jog to shower then brushed my long red curls into a tight ponytail on top of my head. I pulled out a pair of exercising pants and sweatshirt then slipped on some running shoes. I treaded down the stairs and he looked up from my book he was reading on the kitchen's island.
"Didn't I say you couldn't read that?"
He merely rose a questioning eyebrow as I marched over to take it back, his eyes looked my attire over once. "Didn't I say get some rest? You were only up there for an hour." An hour? Did I space off that long? He held the black-covered book above his head.
"Maybe, that's beside the point, I'm just going for a jog, getting blood to the brain is good when you're sick."
"Yes, but that's no good if that blood comes out when you crack your head on the pavement next time you faint."
"I won't pass out again!" He looked at my outfit then his eyes lingered over my face.
"You didn't leave the house, I never read your book. Deal?" My face flushed.
"No deal, you can't read my books and I'm almost eighteen I'm free to leave when I want. "
"Not if your mother instructed your babysitter to make you stay put." He chimed.
"You're not my babysitter." I hopped to grab the book without success.
"You said books, there's more than one?" My eyes widened, I threw my hands up in exasperation then swiped the book from his hand and tossed it on the dinner table.
"I don't care what you say, I'm just going for a jog." I left towards the door, I heard him laugh behind me, I looked back, "What?" I pronounced slowly and darkly.
"Nothing, nothing." He smiled a devilish gleam in his creepy eyes.
"It better be nothing." I left at that.
Angelo looked through the bookshelf containing many books he found to be hers; poetry books, child stories, and a few little black books containing her little hidden tales. He couldn't believe what he read, she wrote excellent stories about a woman named Malla Sanguis, a vampire woman who held a key to a secret, a treasure that unlocked limitless power. It was a great tale. He laughed because for such an innocent girl she had some great romance scenes, he had previously thought her so innocent and oblivious, so unaware of the harsh world. His laugh turned dark and cold as a memory of an old folk tale he had heard that seemed so similar to this story. He couldn't quite put his finger on it. He pursed his lips in thought, but he'd ask his master later anyway, so he stored the romance books in order in a small spot on the shelf where he'd have plenty of time to read them over.
