E POV
Run.
That's all I could think. There was no space in my mind for anything else except...
Run.
So that's what I did. I ran as far as I could as quickly as I could. I could hear the pounding of my shoes on the pavement, the beating of my heart against my chest, the splashing of the rain around me.
I was soaked through in minutes but I couldn't care less. All I knew was that one word.
Run.
I forgot everything and for one blissful moment my mind was empty. But then it all came crashing back like a tidal wave on a beach. I fought the emotion rising in my throat, pushing it down and locking it away until I could run no longer.
I collapsed against a tree somewhere in the woods knowing I would never be able to find my way back out again.
Then, and only then, did I let the tears fall.
