Chapter 3

Topanga's POV:

I'm so relieved that Josh has been found and is home again, everything was wrong with him gone, especially Cory, I've known and loved him all our lives but I've never seen him in that state before and it broke my heart that the person I love was completely broken. But he did something that at the time seemed understandable but now I'm angry at-he cancelled our trip for the fertility treatment. We were meant to go today for a week and they rang up last week to remind us and that's when he cancelled it. We've now got to wait at least another 6 months for the treatment unless we have a miracle so I'm giving Cory the silent treatment.
"Topanga! I don't see why you're so mad! You understood last week! It's only 6 months to wait! It's not that big of a deal r-" He tries to defend himself only to mess up big time, i break my silent treatment and cut him off.
"NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL? NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL THAT THE ONE THING THAT I AM SUPPOSED TO DO WITHOUT WORK AS A WOMAN I CAN'T DO! WHY? TELL ME HOW THAT IS NOT A BIG DEAL CORY!" I yell at him across the dining table. "Why can't we have a baby?" My voice cracks as I finally let down my guard and allow the tears to come flooding down my face. I feel my husband wrap his arms around me protectively to try and comfort me.
"Hey, Topanga it's okay, we're going to have another baby, I promise we will." He tells me.
"But when? It's not like we're getting younger!" I reply.
"Listen to me, we will ring up the clinic and get another time for the treatment and see if we can get it sooner, okay? And if not, we can still try, and we have a beautiful granddaughter we can take care of, also, we're getting a baby nephew in a few months too, and I've got a feeling that Josh and Maya will need all the help they can get to begin with because as great as they are with Amelie every now and again, this is gonna be Maya and Joshua's baby and well, they are Maya and Joshua." Cory chuckles and I manage to break a smile too.
"I feel so old." I tell him, laying my head on his lap.
"Why?"
"Because I remember the day Josh was born like it was last week and now he's gonna have a kid, and it's not even his first kid and we're grandparents!"
"I guess that does make us sound pretty old, we're not though." Cory protests.
"Hey, Cory, have you spoken much about Angela to Shawn recently?" I ask him.
"Yeah, just before Josh went missing, he is really happy to be back with her. He's already asked her to move in with him."
"What? When?" I exclaim in shock.
"At the beginning of February, I don't think she has given him an answer yet though."
Just then, Shawn walks through our apartment's front door.
"Shawnie!" Cory leaps up and tackles his significant other with a hug.
"Hey grandpa, did she say yes?" I greet my friend.
"Angela? Yeah, she moved in yesterday. How did you know?" He replies, questioning my knowledge, I simply point to the bafoon still attached to him.
"So Shawn, what brings you here?" Cory asks finally breaking his latch on the man.
"I need you guys' advice on something."
"What is it?" I ask curiously. Shawn sits down between me and Cory before replying.
"I want to ask Angela to marry me." He explains.
"Oh my gosh! Shawn! Go for it, she will definitely say yes." I tell him, genuinely happy for him, Cory on the other hand has now stood up on front of his best friend and is proceeding to sing a few lines from a High School Musical 2 ballad.
"What about us? What about everything we've been through? And what about me? What am I supposed to do?" He sings off key.
"Cor, you are already married. Aren't you gonna be happy for me?" Shawn says.
"Oh of course I'm happy for you Shawn! In fact I think you should go find her at work and do it right now!" My husband replies.
"Really?"
"Yes! Go! Before I change my mind!" The bobbly haired man says showing his friend to the door.
"Good luck Shawn!" I call out quickly before Cory slams the door in his face.
"They're finally gonna be together forever." Cory squeals like a little girl.
"Hey Cor, going back to the baby thing..." I bring up.
"We can always continue to try naturally?" He finishes my sentence for me and quickly attaches his lips to mine before slowly making our way it our bedroom...
"You think we managed to do it that time?" Cory asks, holding me as I rest by head on his bare chest.
"I don't know, maybe. I hope so." I reply. We lay there for ages just being with each other in our own little world until we are brought back to reality by Auggie and Ava.

"Mom! Dad!"
"Topy! Matthews!"
I jump out of bed and put some comfortable clothes on quickly before they start to look for us and get suspicious because, well, they are 12 not stupid, Cory also puts some clothes on.
"Hey you two, how was school?" I ask them innocently.
"Fine until you didn't answer your phone." Auggie tells me.
"What? I never heard my phone ring." I tell them.
"It's raining and we left our subway cards at school accidentally, and had no money for single tickets, we were calling for a lift." Ava tell me.
"Oh, sorry guys. How come you don't look wet?"
"We saw Lucas driving by, we hailed him down like a taxi. He asked us to ask you if you could look after Amelie tonight because they have loads of studying to do and she is distracting them to much as they have major exams coming up." Auggie explains.
"Okay, thanks, I'll call Riley and tell her that's fine." I reply, I find my phone on the couch and dial Riley's number.
"Hey mama!" She greets me.
"Hey Riley, Auggie said something about wanting us to watch Amelie tonight?"
"Yes please, are you able to?"
"Of course! She can stay overnight if you want to give you a night off?" I suggest.
"Really? Thanks mom! You're the best."
"Thanks Riles, should I pick her up in about an hour?"
"Yeah that'd be great! Love you Mom! Thanks again."
"Love you too Riley. Bye."
"Bye!"
I hang up with a smile, a night with my beautiful granddaughter will be lovely.
"Cory! Kids! Amelie is staying over tonight!" I inform them before going to the spare room to get everything ready.

*just over an hour later*

"Look who's here!" I cheer as I walk with Amelie through the front door.
"Hey, my favourite niece!" Auggie says rushing over to make a fuss of her.
"Uncle Augs!" She squeals. Ava then comes out.
"Avaaaaaaaaa!" She squeals even louder, she loves Ava more than anyone, aside from her Uncle Josh who seems to be her favourite thing ever. Ava then goes over to her and the two preteens play with the toddler.
"Mom what's for dinner?" Auggie asks, eyeing the carrier bag in my hand.
"I picked up Chinese on the way back!" I tell him, and him, Ava and Cory cheer.
"Yeah well if you don't all set up and sit at the table right now you won't get any." I warn them all and they all rush to follow my instructions and then we devour the delicious food before having an extremely fun evening trying to entertain Amelie.
