Merry Christmas

Skipping ahead to December 24, 2016

I woke up extra early cause I needed to go get a couple presents for some people. I quickly showered then got dressed in a long sleeve and a pair of bootcut dark jeans. I grabbed my browning hoodie snatched my keys and wallet and headed out the door. I started off towards town hoping to get everything I need because tomorrow is Christmas. I pulled up to Academy and jumped out slipping my hoodie over my head. I jogged up to the skidding doors and walked in. I went straight back to the hunting department to get Jake a new deer call. I went back there and grabbed to one I wanted and checked out. Next I went to Walmart and got him a gift card to the local BBQ joint and I bag or jerky. Then I went back to the cooking stuff and bought my mom and new pan and some house shoes. After that I was done. I was walking to the check out when I saw the candy canes and grabbed 3 boxes of the pixie​ stick flavored ones. Then I checked out and drove home. When I got back I rushed up to my room and wrapped the presents and out them under our 20 foot tree. The ranch was covered in christmas lights and decorations. I even decorated Browning and Flash's stalls. I put wrapping paper on the stall doors then put a big bow in the middle and wrapped tinsle around the bars on the door, and I put bows on their halters.
       I was walking back towards the house when Jake stopped me and grabbed my hand. "Hey you know how some of the cows are pregnant?" He asked "ya why?" "Well one just had her baby and I thought you might want to ride out and see it with me?" "Of course I would!" I practically yelled. We walked in the barn and I grabbed Browning and tacked her up and slipped her hackamore on her, then I jumped on and waited on Jake. A couple seconds later we were off in search of the new born calf. We finally found him an hour later and he was cream colored with a white patch on his side and only there. I decided to make him cream soda even though since he's a bull calf we will either make him a steer or sell him to a local farm. I'm hopping we make him a steer so I can rope him! "Race ya back to the barn, bet ole Jim bean can't beat browning!" I screeched "bet." He replied simply. Before he could do anything I was off like a rocket and halfway back to the barn. Of course I beat him back. As soon as we unsaddled and turned all the horses out and watered and fed them we headed inside to open one of our gifts. We have a tradition that we open one gift and it can't be our biggest on Christmas eve. I couldn't wait to see what I got.
    I jumped up from where I was sitting on the floor and made a cup of hot chocolate with tons of whipped cream. I ran as fast as I could with a hot mug of chocolate. I plopped back down in Jakes lap and set down my drink. "So what gift do you want tonight?" Jake asked me. "Hmmm how about that one that you got me beside the one I got you." I replied "ok" he grabbed it for me and grabbed the one I got him, and my mom grabbed the gift we got her together.
     I opened my gift first cause we go from youngest to oldest. Jake had got me A new bridle bag and spurs with my last name on them. Next Jake opened the gift I got him and it was the deer call. I also got him some other stuff. Then my mom opened her gift and it was a ring that looked like a horseshoe but the band looked like a lariat rope.

Ashley came bounding in my room at freaking 2 in the morning telling me to get up so we could open presents and then go back to bed. I did as I was told and slipped on a pair of sweet pants and basically fell down the stairs in the barn. Then jogged up to Ashley who was halfway across the yard. I snatched her hand and opened the door for her, we went inside and I made us hot chocolate and we sat down. Her mom was already in the room and Ashley looked like a 5 year old waiting to open her presents.

  We started off by handing out all the gifts then handed the stockings out. Ashley's mom started opening hers first, she got a new frying pan, some house shoes, a bunch of multi colored roping gloves, and a new saddle pad.

Next Ashley opened her stuff she had got, a new rope, a new saddle, a new saddle pad, and a puppy (yes a puppy ironic right cause that's like a Christmas thing)

Then I opened my gifts I got, a new pair of work gloves, a new rope, a new saddle pad, and a big bag of jerky (don't ask I actually got jerky for Christmas)

Once we all finished picking everything up and Setting Ashley's saddle up to train her stirrups, we went to break in our ropes. We went to the barn and set up the regular dummy and started heading on it. After about an hour we got tired of working with the new ropes and went to saddle up and rope some real cows. I grabbed my old rope and jumped on  Jumbo while Ashley got on Browning. I yelled to one of the hands to set up the chute so we could team rope. I was heading and she was healing.

The calf shot out of the shoot on my command and I threw the loop around his head and pulled left while Ashley caught both back feet.  We did the a few more times till it got dark then went inside for dinner.

Hey guys sorry its so short but I don't know what else to put and I really wanted to give y'all a Christmas chapter. I really feel bad about not updating in a while I've been really busy I had my old horse back to work with and he left 1-4-17 so and today's 1-5-17 I have some more time plus I won't be riding browning because she needs a little weight put on.
