“Da – ddy.”

“Dada.”

“No, no, no, no. Da – ddy.”

“Na, na, na, na. Dada.”

I lifted my can of root beer and gulped down half of it.

This baby is hardheaded like me. May pinagmanahan.

“Skye – ” I tried talking to him again but he was too preoccupied by his toy camera.

He even inherited my love for cameras.

I took out my Polaroid from my bag and snapped a picture of him. When the film went out, I fanned it and waited for the image.

He really reminds me of myself as a child.

Since I’m already holding my camera, I decided to take pictures of the place.

                Snap. Snap. Snap.

I go here almost every day but this gazebo and this clearing always seem to change. Every passing day, leaves lose their color, trees lose their leaves and even the gazebo’s paint fades.

Maybe, through someone else’s eyes, this place would seem lifeless. For me though, it’s where I find life.

Some things change but at the end of the day, through my lens, the whole picture will always be perfect.

This place is a concrete reminder of happiness, love and pain that no one can ever take away from me. In this place, I will always hear her laughter, see her smile and feel her near.

                “DADA!”

I broke out of my train of thought and hurried inside the gazebo to check up on Skye. It seemed like nothing happened to him, he just wanted my root beer.

                May pinagmanahan talaga. Tsk. Tsk.

I noticed something new on the gazebo. A scribble on one of the posts. I walked towards it and saw…

                REMEMBER.

That wasn’t there last time I checked.

I heard the roar of the engine of a car.

I turned to the baby and said, “Skye, mommy’s here.”

I turned again, this time to the direction of the car and saw Scarlette got out of her black Porsche.

                “Klaud!”
