My name is Madison Ziegler. I am 11 years old. I live with my family, my mom my dad and my 9 year old sister. In our community things run a little different.

I wouldn't say it was a bad different, but it wasn't really good. Every day I do my volunteer hours at the care for the elders. Everyone older than age 8 left school and worked. Well helped out I should say. Once you become 12 you get your assignment. It's like a job. We have a big ceremony and everything. My parents think it's a big deal.

Madison does not know that she's different than everyone else. Living in a dystopian community, could affect her life. Everyone is the same. No color, no memories or no pain. It's a strange world lead by the head elders and the receiver of memory. Also known as the "Giver".

Madison will find out secrets that could change this community forever.

The 11 year old girl with pale eyes, wisdom and courage could save this community or make it worse.
