Donghae's POV

Since the first time I saw her, I know she's the one.

When I was a kid, I would ring our neighbor's door bell everytime I head home after school. For a month that I've been doing that, I wasn't caught and it made me more excited to do it everyday. Until one day, I was about to press it but someone from behind yelled at me.

"Aha! I finally caught you! You are dead meat!"

I was caught red-handed. I thought of running away but my conscience was killing me.

"Joseonghamnida!" I uttered as I turn around and make a full bow.

"Nan gwaenchanha." I heard a giggle coming from a girl.

I straightened up to see who she is but I ended up mesmerized. My eyes were glued to her and every second longer that I stare, she just seem to get prettier and prettier.

"Annyeong haseyo. Park Sandara imnida. But you can just call me Dara." She flashed her beautiful smile and I melted.

"A-annyeong haseyo. Lee Donghae i-imnida. Nice to m-meet you." I introduced myself, stuttering.

And that's where it all began. Who knows that pulling a prank can bring something good?

From then on, ringing their door bell became a habit - not to pull a prank, but to say hello to Dara everyday.

I thought my feelings for her will be secretly kept forever. However, my appa has a great instinct. He was the first to know that I like Dara. We always talk about Dara since then.

"Appa, what is love?" The curious 9-year old me asked.

My father, who was busy watching his favorite singer Shin Sung Woo, had the shock of his life.

"Wae?"

I just shrugged and waited for his answer.

"Honestly, love is the hardest word to define. But for me, it is a profound affection towards someone despite the flaws, regardless of indifference, notwithstanding time, and without expecting anything in return."

"Despite the flaws? When I saw Dara's birthmark on her right leg, I didn't laugh at her unlike the other kids. Is that love?"

My father laughed out loud. "You're too young for that. Just think about it 10 years after."

"But, that's too long!" I objected.

"If you cannot wait then that's not love."

. . .

I was walking on the streets of Namdaemun Market to find some fresh ginseng for my mom's samgyetang when I heard a girl screaming. I thought I already heard that voice before.

Apologize or I'll let the people know who you are.

I looked around and was very surprised to see her. I was a bit teary eyed and my heart beat faster looking at her from afar.

"Jeongmal ippeuda." I whispered to myself.

I head towards her but I was not expecting to see her with...

"Ya! That's my bag. Bring it back to..."

"Chanyeol..." I took a grab of the bag, enough to snatch it away from him.

"Is this yours, Dara?" I asked as I walked closer to her.

"D-donghae?" She looked like she saw a ghost.

"Is this some kind of a drama or what? Aish! I'm leaving. You can have my ID forever. You'll probably earn a lot if you sell that." He looked so pissed. Good thing he already left.

"Gwaenchanha?" I can't help but look at her eyes. I missed her so much. I would love to hug her... to kiss her... Oh, what am I thinking? Pervert!

"Gwaenchanha. Kamsahamnida." She gave a shy but very cute smile.

I kept on asking random questions to ease the awkwardness. But ugh, I was running out of questions. Help!

"Let's go?" I spontaneously asked to avoid answering her question about that guy who must not be named.

"Huh? Where?"

"Namsan Tower." Eomma, mianhae. I'll just buy ginseng tomorrow, promise!

I was thinking for another question to ask for her to be comfortable with me but my mind didn't want to cooperate.

"I heard they have the best galbi here." I finally came up with a spiel.

"Jinjja? We have to try it then." Oh man! She smiled again. I'm in big trouble!

We entered inside the restaurant and seated at the table near the window. I could see the happiness in her eyes when she saw the view from the window. It was a priceless moment seeing her happy. I wish I could see more of it.

I tried to be cool the entire time. I even joked about how she eats excessively. But the thing was I am profusely sweating due to nervousness. I thought I would pass out.

"Dara... I am sorry if I was not able to attend to your party." I was crossing my fingers that she will not hate me.

"I understand. You don't have to say sorry."

I was about to insist that i should apologize when my phone rang.

Incoming call: Eommonim

"Eomma."

"Eodie-ya? Eunice was rushed to the hospital. You must go there. Ppali!"

I hate to call it a night. I still want to spend my time with Dara. But Eunice needs me.

"I'm sorry Dara but I have to go now. I'll just drop you off at the bus station."

"But we haven't explored the Namsan Tower." She pouted and my heart melted. I felt guilty.

"We'll do it some other time, okay?"

Even if she doesn't show, I know she's still hurt with what I have done. I could not blame her if she still hates me. But there is no other time to win her again but now.

I am doing this because since the first time I saw her, I know she's the one. And until now, I know she's still the one.
