(Gidget's P.O.V.)

"Bye, Gidget!" I watched as my owner with the short blonde hair, and with her black and white horizontal striped shirt walked to the door with her husband. I had no idea where they were going, and I had no idea how long they'd be gone. It'd probably be years until theme sun came down. That was basically the only way I could tell.

As they shut the door, I turned my body around and hopped up onto the white couch, then onto the white pillow that was leaning against the edge of the couch, and the edge of my window sill. Getting comfortable first, I then smiled as I saw Max sitting by the door as always.

"Hey, Max!"

"Hey, Gidget."

"Got any plans today?"

"Oh yes. I've got big  big stuff today, Gidget. I've got big plans. I'm gonna sit here, and I'm gonna wait for Katie to come back."

"Oh, that sounds exciting, well, I won't interrupt, I've got a very busy day too."
And with that, I sighed happily to myself as I just stared at Max quietly.

I sat there for a few minutes, and then something I didn't expect happened. Getting up onto his window sill, Max balanced himself with his two front paws as he looked at me. "Hey, Gidget?"

I blinked and stared at him, completely quiet. On normal days, that was the entire conversation we had. It was nothing more, nothing less. It had been that way today, it had been that way ever since my crush on him started. So what was different about today?

"Gidget?!"

I blinked once more as I shook my head. "Huh? What?" I looked at Max, who just had a confused/concerned face on. "Sorry..." I stated quietly, my tail slowing down it's wagging pace.

"Hey," I looked at Max as I heard his voice. "Keep that tail wagging."

I nodded and blushed soft enough for him to not notice, which then made my tail start wagging faster once again. Max smiled as he noticed. "That's more like it."

"So uh," I started, my blue eyes darting to each side for a moment before they landed back on my neighbor. "Why were trying to get my attention?"

"Oh, right," Max's mood seemed to drop a little. "Have you heard about all the dogs going missing?"

I tilted my head in confusion. "What?"

Max nodded, just a blank expression on his face now. "Yeah, this past week 15 dogs have gone missing. They each were last seen at the bottom of their apartment. Their owners had tied them to something while they went into a store or somewhere, and when their owners came back, their dog or dogs were gone. Just like that. No sign or clue for their owners to even locate them."

"So their owners just gave up on them?"

"Basically, yes. Two days ago I saw Buddy, and then the next day, I saw his owner walking an all black dog, without Buddy."

"Oh no, Buddy was taken?"

Max just nodded, I could tell he was upset that one of his friends had been dognapped. I stayed quiet, wanting to give him space, and to figure out what to say so I wouldn't end up saying something stupid and offensive to him.

"What do you think they do with the dogs?" Max sighed as he looked down at his paws that were still resting on top of his window sill. "I honestly have no idea, Gidget. I'm just hoping it's not what I'm fearing the worst."

"And what would be the worst?"

Max stared at me silently. Giving a little time to examine his facial features, my eyes widened. "Oh..."

Max just nodded softly. "Y-Yeah..."

We both went quiet after that. What else could we say to each other? I didn't want to say that everything was going to be okay, because obviously, it wasn't, and I bet that if I did say that, I would jinx it and then tomorrow, someone else would get kidnapped.

"At least Duke hasn't been taken."

Max nodded once again as he turned around and looked at the big brown dog, who was taken a nap in his own bed that Katie had gotten him a week ago.

"Yeah, that's true."

"And don't forget that you yourself haven't been caught and taken to wherever the missing dogs."

I saw a small smile crack on Max's lips, and I just smiled back just as small at him.

"Thanks, Gidget."

I nodded. "Anytime."

Now lifting his paws off of the window sill, Max's paws landed softly on the couch that he was laying on. "Well, I better wake Duke up so I can tell him."

I nodded, smiling, but deep down, I wanted to keep talking to him for forever. But I knew we never could. We could only talk in the morning to when our owners left, and just before our owners would get home at night.

"Gidget?"

"Yeah?" I looked at Max as he looked over his shoulder. "Be careful, okay?"

I nodded once again, understanding. "Okay. You be careful too, Max."

He nodded. "I will. Talk to you tomorrow?"

I giggled. "Of course." And with that, I planted all four of my paws onto the pillow, then onto the couch, making my way to the TV remote so I could turn on my telenovela. I wonder if Maria had to deal with any kidnappings? Probably not. Of course I was now fearful that I could get kidnapped, but then another thought came to me that made me even more fearful.

What if whoever is kidnapping dogs... took Max?
