The Eye In Reality

Chapter 1

It was a stormy night and I was on the coach watching the news. I heard a knock at my door and I answered it. It was Jude, my girlfriend of two years, she wasn’t the most perfect girl but I loved her and she loved me (or so I thought). Wow it sure is bad out there, said Jude, but I would walk a thousand miles to see you.

I responded with, how sweet, but we don’t have time for sappy romantic quotes, my parents will be home in a few hours. Then I took her upstairs to my room and shut the door behind me. She sat on my bed and she looked at me oddly. What’s wrong? I asked.

She looked down, there’s something  I have to tell you but before I do I want you to know that I love you and I always will, then she continued, I was texting Bryce the other night and things got out of hand. I knew what was coming but I wanted her to say it. She choked, we played truth or dare and well some pictures and videos were sent. She could tell that I was getting angry and torn. I’m really sorry and I understand if you want to break up, then she paused, I love you Michael.

I couldn’t let her know that she wrecked me so I straightened myself and said, Jude, I don’t think you love me and I don’t think you ever have, every time you do something wrong I forgive you but it has gotten to the point that I can’t even look at you the same anymore. Then she started crying and my protective instincts over her kicked in. I sighed, Jude I love you but obviously you like Bryce more. She turned towards me and cried on my chest and after a minute she picked her head up and started kissing me. My mind told me to stop her but my heart and body told me to embrace it and I listened to my heart.

Then things got heated. After ten months of dating I was finally getting what every guy wants. It was weird though, I thought I heard music in the background like in the movies but Jude acted like she didn’t hear it. Something must have happened because right when I started taking off her shirt I blacked out. My vision blurred and I slumped down. When I awoke I was in the middle of a desert which is very common seeing how I live in Arizona where the city is practically surrounded by desert like land. I got up and looked around, my car was about a few feet from me and when I looked down at my body I was terrified to see that my whole body was covered in blood. For a moment I thought it was mine but I didn’t have any cuts on me. I got out my phone so I could call the police. Then as I started walking to my car I tripped on something, when I fell down I saw what I had tripped on and I stared at it and it stared right back at me.

Chapter 2

She was laying there with a pained look in her eyes, but she didn’t blink. She had a gash across her neck and a long slender dagger in her chest. Then all the events of last night flooded back.

I remember after we had finished last night that I told her to come with me to a place that I wanted to show her. When we got there we started talking about what had happened, then we got into an argument and she stormed out of the car. I followed her and right when I caught up to her a tall man came out of nowhere and pulled out a dagger that glinted in the moonlight and cut her throat and stabbed her in the chest. She only got out one scream and then fell to the ground. I held her in my arms as I tried to call the police but I couldn’t get any reception. I cried and pushed the hair out of her face and kissed her forehead as she let out her final breath. Then I fainted out of shock.

After realizing all of this I called the police and got connected on my first try. I slurred out what had happened as I cried. The woman tried to calm me down but I knew in her voice that even she was in shock. As I kept talking to her I recognized the voice of the woman. It was Jude’s mother. At the exact moment I recognized her, she recognized me. I then heard screams and cries come from the other end of the call. I had just told a mother that her child has died. When the cops finally came the reality hit me that Jude had actually died. The coroner had me officially identify her. When I walked up to her lifeless body I saw something that I didn’t notice from before, one of her eyes were missing.
