"Just get in the car" I demanded once more in frustration.
"What if I don't want to?" Marlene innocently threw the puppy dog face at me.
"No." I continued "get in the car. We have to go home."
"But I don't want to go home" she pouted.
"Me either, but we have to. Please, please just make it easier for me" I begged "it's already hard enough knowing that you're clueless about everything going on right now."
"Fine" she got off the couch "but your buying me pizza" she stated, while walking out the front door.
"Finally" I exhaled in relief. "Well goodbye 'O2L House' it was nice to make some memories here" I smiled, as I closed the front door.
"We don't got all day Melissa!" Connor playfully yelled, as he honked his horn.
"Shut your honking! I'm going!" I yelled back, as I ran to the passenger seat. Marlene had already gotten comfortable in the back seat. "Marlene" I called.
"Mhm" she answered.
"Try and look out your window once in a while. Please get a little but of rest. And please try to remember something." I pleaded.
"I will" she smiled, as she drifted off to sleep.
"So who you choosing?" Connor asked.
"What do you mean by that?" I asked clueless of whatever he was talking about.
"Jc or Sam" he simply said, as if it were nothing.
"Aww man you too?" I whined.
"Yup. C'mon Mel you know they both like you right?" Connor questioned.
"I honestly don't see it" I admitted.
"C'mon Jc taking you out on a walk. Sam taking you out for a drive. Both doing that at night time." Connor listed "they both are always overprotective and are jealous anytime a guy is near you. Now, I'm no love doctor, but I am a guy. And I know when a guy likes a girl".
"Connor that's what friends do" I assured him.
"C'mon everyone else keeps telling you and you always push it away. Why?" Con asked. I never knew how deep this question actually got to me. I thought.
Why?
I broke down.
"Oh my god, Melissa I didn't mean to I just-" I cut him off.
"No it's ok Con. I'm just a crybaby" I cracked up a fake smile. "I keep pushing it away because I'm afraid, insecure, and unsure"
"Afraid of what? Insecure of what? Unsure of what?" he asked in a mixing of shock and confusion.
"I'm afraid to get hurt again. I'm insecure about myself. I'm unsure of who I am" I responded, holding back the tears.
"What made you feel like this?" he said not taking his eyes off the road, but showing concern in his voice.
"I used to have a best friend, before Marlene. She was beautiful, funny, and outgoing. Anyways, I was the ugly one in the relationship. She was the popular, beautiful girl and I was the ugly, vulnerable loser. I was told I could never get a guy that I was to ugly to ever get one. This kid, Jacob, came into my life. He was my crush since years back. We became friends. Later on he told me I was an embarrassment and that he didn't want to be seen with me. I fell hard for that douche. All my life I was told I was useless, fat, ugly, embarrassing, and other mean things. That's why it's hard for me to trust anybody or even to love." I shed a couple of tears.
"Mel. It's ok" he cooed "and where were your parents?"
Where were my parents?
I couldn't help, but burst into tears.
"My dad died when I was born and my mom was a drug addict and abandoned me, leaving me with an abusive uncle at the age of 5" I cried "the house I live in" I paused "is a woman's, not mine. I believe that she is my guardian angel".
"Who is she?" Connor asked.
"I don't know, I was about 12. My uncle had came home drunk once again. He threw a table at me, but thankfully missed and hit a window. When he realized he missed, he pulled me by the hair and hit me with a solid people of wood" I continued crying, trying to fight back the tears" he left me sitting next to the window, crying, bruised up, in agonizing pain. That's when this lady comes in she looked through the window, I was sitting in. 'Niña are you ok? I saw everything' she whispered. One thing led to another and she took me home with her. I know I shouldn't be getting in a stranger's car but at that point I thought 'how could it get any worse' right? She took me to my house I am currently living in. The last thing she told me was 'stay strong. I will pay for everything. Don't worry' and then she left" I explained.
"That's weird" Connor commented.
"I know, it seems as if she was just in time for the rescue mission. I will forever have her in my heart" I smiled, wiping off the last tears.
"But Andrea said your parents were on a business trip?" he questioned confused.
"I tell people that, so they won't ask anything or something" I replied.
"Oh ok"
"You know Con, you are the first person I've ever told this to" I admitted.
"Yay! I feel special!" he cheered.
"Thanks for being an awesome big brother" I smiled "even tho it's only been 2 weeks".
"I know right! And aye thanks for being an amazing little sister" he smirked making me giggle. I looked down for a little bit. Thinking off all those comments that had been swirling inside my head for a while now.
"Hey" Connor sighed, catching my attention "you're beautiful without a doubt gorgeous. You are awesomely fabulous. You have an amazing personality. You are probably one of the strongest people I've ever met" he warmly smiled, as he continued to face up ahead.
"Really?" I asked in disbelief.
"Really" he replied without thinking "you are frantastic" he winked, as I laughed.
"Of course. The famous Connor Franta would compliment me that way" I laughed. "I'm honored to be Frantastic tho"
"Better be only the best of the best are Frantastic" he laughed.
"Guys why am I in the backseat? Melissa aren't we supposed to be at the O2L house doing a barbec-" Marlene interrupted herself "wait why is Connor driving?"
"Calm down, Mars. The barbecue was cancelled because you lost your memory and then we took you to the hospital and now Connor is driving us home because like I said you lost your memory" I explained, as I realized something BIG. "Wait! How'd you know about the barbecue?!"
"We planned it the day we went to Disneyland duh" she didn't hesitate to answer.
"And how do you know about the Disneyland trip?" I asked suspiciously.
"It was the first place Andrea and Jenn took us" she responded.
"OH MY GOD YOU'RE BACK!" I cheered.
"What do you mean?" she questioned confused.
Connor and I explained the entire story to her.
Wow. Opening my heart up to someone. Gaining confidence in myself. Singing songs with my best guy friend and girl friend AND Marlene's memory is back. This has to be an awesome day.
My heart has literally never felt this warm.
