SHION

The sky was as grey as a coal miners handkerchief and so low that the world felt small and close. The air was thick with the sweet smell of the coming storm and no thing had a shadow; for we were all in one great shadow. When the first drops of rain fell they were as large as the tears I had cried for Mom only last week; each one splashed down without mercy, wetting my thick black coat through before I had run a few yards down the lane. And then when the puddles had formed the rain danced in them like watery sprites. The lightening flashed on a far away hillock, like a serpent of brilliant light sent to bite the earth. Then the sky shook with the cry of the thunder and I ran faster for home.

I ran as fast as I could to reach the taxi bay and waited for almost 30 minutes, but the rain become so loud and it poured so heavily. I don't have any umbrella with me because I thought it won't rain that hard so I didn't bother to do so. I can't wait anymore and so I hurriedly ran into the rain to get to the bus stop at the other end of the street. I waited again for 30 minutes, but seems like luck isn't on my side either. I need to get home as fast as I could or I won't be able to finish my work since tomorrow is my deadline. I ran again, hoping to quickly get home and out of this stupid rain.

But there are actually things we never expect to happen.

In my rush to get home, I didn't notice my way so I was accidentally hit by a car. I was overwhelmed by the great impact of the collision. My head hurts so bad, my joints, or my body itself aches so bad that I felt numb not even knowing where I am. Things happened so fast, I didn't realize that this is how I would end up.

Is this how I die?

For some reasons, I also wanted to be like this, for me to see my Mom already. I've been missing her, even if only a couple of weeks passed, yet, I wish I stayed by her side for long. Ha... If this is how I'll be meeting Mom again, then I should be at least glad, no?

Yet, those were just hallucinations.

I was really in the brink of death, but before closing my eyes and felt into a deep slumber, I saw a blinding white light approaching me. I have no clear idea on what it is, but I'm pretty sure it is the one who saved me from death.

Or maybe, it is someone??

No, that would be impossible, but... We'll never know unless...

Forget about it, what matters most is I am alive and I am breathing fine.

I was brought to the hospital after the collision and I stayed there for 4 weeks long that I had to contact the company I work to ask for a leave to take a rest. The driver who accidentally ran at me apologized and compensated for what happened. He fully paid my bills, even though I told him I would be responsible for the half payment since it was also my fault, but he said he doesn't want to feel guilty or else his conscience will stay him awake for nights.

After that 4 weeks, I was out of the hospital and advised to stay at home and get rest. I'm glad to be finally back at home and have a nice sleep in my fluffy and comfortable bed. I didn't have any sleep at the hospital either due to overthinking, especially when I think about that strange light that approached me when I was hallucinating. I'm still clueless on why that thing appeared in front me in those times. I'm not even sure if it is due to my hallucinations or what, but I'm feeling it is not about it.

The same day I got out of hospital, that strange blinding light appeared to me again.

It was night time when I was about to sleep. Before closing my eyes again, I saw the light approaching me and it woke the hell up on me. I opened my eyes and got up quickly. I sat up and looked around my room but the light was nowhere to be found, not until a female looking human was now sitting beside me.
