"Who is she?" Came the disgusted groan of Natalie Thomas as she shot a glare at me across the classroom. I could already tell I hated her. She sat surrounded by other girls, all resembling Barbie dolls. She had flawless golden blonde locks and stunning white teeth ( like the teeth you see in those Instagram videos ); her eyebrows were perfection and had the sharpest cut-crease eyeshadow ever seen. Her posse were equally glamorous.
Olivia Evans, who knew everything about everyone, even me, spoke up "That's Becky Rogers. New into school: moved in from an island of the coast of Scotland. Pretty much a nobody, apart from she has history with Dan Carter."
Great, there are a lot more gossiping teenagers over here in London than there are on Fair Isle. I only lived in Fair Isle for a year but that must've been long enough for people to forget who I am completely.
"How did someone who looks like that manage to snaffle up Dan Carter!?" Natalie looked completely revolted.
"She's an amazing snogger." sounded the smug voice of Dan Carter from the front of the classroom, he was sitting not far from myself. "Hey honey, long time no talk"
"Let's keep it that way, honey." I stabbed back sharply. Dan was the kind of guy who is lovely in a relationship, until he sees a better option: Then he will drop you faster than a drunk girl in stilettos. As you can probably guess he found a better option.
"Now now, let's not make a scene babe, I miss you."
"And I miss my bed, life's hard." I spat sarcastically.
Natalie had obviously had enough at this point and decided to join in to our little argument: "That's big talk coming from a loser like you. Where'd you learn to talk like that? Did your mum teach you?"
"Yes actually, my mother has quite the lip of her own." I smiled at her, a snobbish smile.

Mr Woods stood at the front of the class observing the class of bratty, bickering teenagers. He looked miserable, but that can only be expected. I mean, he taught senior school R.E. Poor man.
"Right as much as this is a very exciting conversation, I must interrupt because I have it in my job description to actually teach you lot something. So take your seats immediately! Becky, take a seat beside Dan there. I'm sure he will help get you caught up."
"Oh joy." I muttered under my breath, I really did hate Dan Carter.

After a forty-five minutes of terrible pickup lines from Dan, the bell finally rang and I could escape to the canteen for lunch.
I wandered dreamily to my locker, where my ham and cucumber sandwiches lay comfortably inside their tumblresque brown paper bag. As I arrived there my absolute nutter of a best friend was waiting there with my mate Ryan.
Amber really was a special girl, she made a lot of noise and always seemed to be on a sugar high.
"BECKAYYYYY" she screamed from down the corridor. "BECKY, BECKY, BECKY, BECKY, BECKY!"
"Yes Amber dear?" I replied politely to her obnoxiously loud screaming.
"You down for some nuggets after school?" Amber enquired slightly quieter than before but still in her usual loud voice.
"Amber you're going to get diabetes with the amount of nuggets you eat." Ryan pointed out.
"Shush Ryan nobody asked you." She pouted.
"I've got a lot of catching up to do Amber. I don't think today will work." I whined.
"Oh my days why do you hate me?" Amber exclaimed, before punching me in the arm, grabbing my sandwiches and running as fast as she could away from me.
Shortly after I received a text - "You will only get your sandwiches back if you take me to McDonald's tonight xx : Amber Reynolds"
"She is such a pain in the backside." Muttered Ryan, who was reading the text over my shoulder.
Ryan and I traipsed to where the vending machines were: We knew this was were Amber usually hides when she attempted to scheme. Sure enough we found her laughing at herself, with my now half eaten sandwiches and her iconic bottle of pink lemonade lucozade in hand.
When she saw us she screamed, as if she hadn't expected us to find her, and attempted to run. Unfortunately for her Ryan was a lot stronger than her and grabbed her by the arm, restraining her from fleeing from us once again. I snatched my sandwiches from her hands and returned her punch. We then made our way to the canteen to sit with the rest of our friends:
Adrianna; Loves history, art and the rainbow (if you know what I mean)
Leona; Loves all the same things as Adrianna.
Miley; Environmentalist, complete green freak.
Leon; Low-key our hottest friend but no one would ever tell him that.
Alex; Ambers closest guy friend, the comedian of our group.
And Jack; Very quiet and hard working in school, my closest guy friend.

We heavily threw ourselves into the plastic canteen stools. I pulled out my half eaten sandwich and started to munch on what was left; I was starving after chancing Amber through the corridors for the last fifteen minutes. I turned to talk to Jack who was quietly eating his panini beside me.
"How was your first R.E class with Natalie and Dan?" He asked, he sounded genuine because he knew how much I disliked the girls in that class.
"Horrid, I didn't miss them when I was in Scotland." I said in despair.
"Don't worry, you only have R.E once a week." Jack comforted.
I smiled. "Thanks Jack, at least that is one positive note."
I quickly ate the rest of my sandwich and downed my carton of chocolate milk before running to the toilet and then to class.

Two more hours passed as I flooded my brain with more useless knowledge, before the glorious school bells rang and I was allowed to leave school.
Jack and I walked to the train station together as our houses were in the same estate. It was a ten minute walk to the station most of which we didn't talk, we weren't the most chatty friends but we were best friends none the less.
After about 5 minutes of walking in silence, Jack spoke:
"You know I missed having you to walk with to the station everyday, it was very lonely by myself." Jack laughed.
"You know I would have stayed if I could, Jack." I assured him.
"I know, I know. Just missed my best friend that's all." Jack nudged me as if to tease me.
I had missed our walks so much, what would I do without Jack?
