Chapter 1 Childhood

Shadow's POV

Maria was only seven and I was five. We played together all the time. The professor would teach us stuff. He would talk about things like making batteries and asteroids. Maria and I always use to run off and do things more interesting.

One day,Maria and I were playing secret spy's and pretending that our hands,in shape of a gun,were real. We shot at random things like the ceiling and stuffed animals. We were undercover,hiding in my bed covers;when I pretended there was an enemy by Maria. I pointed at a stuffed animal and did my gun sound;when a yellow thing shot out of my hand. We screamed loudly,scared of what I had just done.

We ran to the professor and we told him. He took me to the lab and checked my hands. He took off my gloves and took an x-ray of my hands. He had told my earlier that as I grow,strange things are going to start happening to me;and this was one of them.

He told me they were chaos spears. He said I shall not use them,because I could get hurt or hurt someone. I promised I wouldn't use them. Maria and I played again;but things just got weirder every day and every year.

I was now ten and Maria was twelve. I had developed chaos control. Maria and I loved transporting to different areas. I only used chaos control,never chaos spear. I loved playing with Maria.

One day Maria and I were having so much fun,we chaos controlled every second to a different area. We were transporting too fast,that my inhibitor rings started to over heat;and my hands shot a laser at Maria.

"Uh...!"

Was all I heard after she was thrown on the floor;and hearing a loud thud. I stopped and went to her.

"Professor...! Hurry,please...! Professor...!"

I said as I held Maria's head against my chest. I heard the professor's footsteps becoming louder and louder. He was running. He opened the door and shouted.

"What's wrong...?!"

He looked down and gasped. He took Maria from me and took her into his lab. I followed. He shut the door on my face when he entered the lab. I waited out in the hallway all day. It was getting late and I looked through the blurry glass window. Nothing,I started to walk away when the door opened. The professor was carrying Maria into her room. He laid her on her bed and I was about to walk in,but the professor shut the door on my face.

I waited for him to come out. I walked back and forth by the door like a guard. I sat by the door and fiddled with my fingers.

He finally came out. He put a hand on my shoulder and took me into my room. He sat on my bed and I sat by him. He looked at me and sighed.

"Shadow,I'm really sorry that that happened... I should of never let you use your powers. Maria is very hurt. You shot her in between the shoulder blade and the neck. That's going to take time to heal. Shadow,these powers are going to only get stronger. So you're going to have to find a way to control them,or else you're not going to be able to be around Maria..."

"I'll try professor,but I don't know if I can do it..."

"Of course you can..."

He hugged me and wiped away my tears. I sniffed. I crawled to my pillow and he tugged me in bed. He kissed my forehead. He shut the door. I crowded to the other side of my bed and tuned on my walkie-talkie.

"This is Shadow reporting,Maria are you there...? Maria are you there,repeat Maria,hello...over...?"

I waited and there was no answer. I started to crawl away when I heard something.

"Ma-Maria reporting,I got your message,over..."

I grabbed my thing and talked through it.

"Maria...! Are you okay,I'm really sorry... I may not be able to s-um never mind..."

"Shadow,what's wrong...?"

"Um,nothing..."

"Tell me..."

"I may not be able to... Sleep! Tonight because I fell so bad bout hurting you..."

"Aww! It's okay,I forgive you,I swear..."

"Thank you,good night Maria..."

"Good night..."

I turned mine off and went to bed. I had hope,hope that I could hold my powers back.

Two Years Later...

Shadow's POV

I was worried. I called the professor and he came in.

"It's only getting stronger...! I can't control it...! I point at a single think and a chaos spear goes flying there...! I can't do it...!"

I cried and jet my ears back. It just got stronger...! I couldn't control it,I was afraid I would hurt Maria... The professor patted my back.

"You can do it,I promise... You won't hurt anyone. I promise..."

I was very sad and worried that Maria would come in and I'd shoot her. I braced myself and shivered. I heard a knock on the door.

"Shadow,do you want to play something...? I'm bored..."

"No Maria,please... I'm tired... I've been training a lot today..."

"Okay... Maybe tomorrow..."

I heard her walk away. I sighed and looked at the mess and marks all over my room. The scratches on the walls,in the closet,in my halls... I was becoming a monster...! I just stayed in my room all day. I fell asleep...

At Night...

Maria's POV

I came in Shadow's room and kissed his cheek. I wonder why he doesn't come out anymore... He never plays with me either,why...? What's wrong...? Is it because of that accident two years ago...? It's okay,and he knows that. I went back into my room and laid there,just thinking about that. And he's only talking to grandpa. Also,when I went there,I noticed all the scratches on the walls,the closet,and the halls... The mess and marks. Sometimes even at night I hear growling and whining. He scratches the walls and yells that he's a monster...? He's no monster to me,and I'll show him.

Next Morning...

Shadow's POV

I awoke by a noise. I looked up and it was coming from outside my door. I went outside and it was Maria. She was sitting on the ground sleeping. I carried her to her bedroom and placed her on her bed. I shut the door and went to my room. I took of my right glove and looked at my hand. They something came bursting through my door.

"No...! Stop...!"

I yelled as I stretched my arm and spread my hand,shutting my eyes tightly,and shooting a chaos spear at the object. I went to see who or what it was and- I gasped...

"Oh no... NO,NO,NO...! Please let this be a dream...!!!"

I yelled as I held a bloody Maria in my arms. The chaos spear had landed on her chest... I was crying and screaming. I'm a monster...! She looked up and me.

"Shadow..."

Maria's POV

"Sh-Shadow... It's okay... Don't cry..."

I wiped away his tears. My vision blurred.

"To lie here and run to you,is all I could ever do..."

I heard him say. I gasped for air and put my hand on his cheek. He was crying still. My hearing started growing bad.

"Shadow,I-I forgive you... There's not a time I won't... Don't cry,I'll always be here for you..."

"Maria please don't go...!"

I heard him shout. My ears grew numb and I couldn't hear anything except my heart beating very slow. My vision grew blurrier and soon everything became black;my heart started slowing it paste. Then it stopped.

Shadow's POV

"Maria,no... Please,wake up...! You're not dead,you're alive...! No,professor...! Hurry,please... Come,hurry...! Please...!"

The professor came and gasped. There was nothing he could do about it. He said. I het my ears back and he made a coffin for her and launched her into outer space. I cried all day that day. Now,I was a monster...! The professor came.

"It's okay,you'll get it next time..."

"No,there is no next time...!"

I said angrily before leaving the room. Now,I was so hurt I hate him,for making me...! I wish I never lived,I wish he would've never thought about making me...!
