-Sheila-I look at the chalked outline. I sigh. "What was the body count again?" I ask. Another investigator holds up three fingers. A man walks up to me.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Agent Baker. We have a witness. I wanted you to go talk to her with me." He says. I shrug and go follow him over.
We head over to a big blue alien lady. She has about fifteen kids around her, tugging on her. "Her name is Quanta," Baker whispers to me.
We walk over and flash our LOS badges. "Hello, Quanta, we're with the LOS, and we just want a few minutes of your time."
"B-but, I talk to official authorities already." She stammers, tussling one of her kid's hair.
I nod. "We're not with the police department. We're from a separate bureau." I start my recorder, and then put it back on my belt.
"O-okay. I be walking home last night, about eight thirty. I- I see two men talk to woman. T- They walk over to there," she says pointing to the wall where the chalk outlines are. "T- Then a young girl walk over-"
"Do you remember how to identify this girl?" I ask. Baker takes out a notepad and pencil.
"She have blue hair. It fall over her shoulders." I nod as Baker scribbles away. "She had light scar that come off left corner of her mouth, barely visible." Baker scribbles some more. "Her eyes are ocean blue." Baker on cue. "Her chin have light scar on it." Baker on duty. "She human, white, maybe a teenager. About 18-20, I say."
Baker scribbles then holds up his drawing to Quanta. "Is this who you saw?" He asks.
She squints at the drawing then leans in. She looks it up and down. "Yes. That be the girl." She said leaning back.
Baker glances at me, disappointed. And I have a clue as to why. He hands me the picture. I sigh. It matches the picture I had on my desk yesterday. Georgia Sanders. Murdered seven years ago. I just hand him the picture back.
"Okay, continue with the story please," I say.
"Oh yes. The young girl walk over to the three of them and they talk. I not hear what they say, but it look more like argument. I move closer to hear what said. I catch snippet of conversation. The young girl was looking for book. Something about Alcatron." Me and Baker share a glance. No clue what that is. "Up closer you see the two men are actually two boys. They say something about their pop having the book. They say it theirs. One of the boys, the tall one, move to hit young girl, but she mutters something, and shadows burst out the ground and consume the trio. The girl walk away grumbling."
I glance at Baker again, then reach down and turn off my recorder. "Thank you for your time, Quanta," I say. She nods and walks away.
I look at Baker. He looks at his phone then back up at me. "I got word yesterday from some guy named Alfred Gyro, that someone broke into his house, but nothing was taken except a book." He says.
"Think the events are connected, somehow?" I ask. He nods.
"We've identified the dead people. The woman was named Julie Gyro. Presumably, Alfred's dear old wife. The boys are Ned Gyro and Ted Gyro. Ted's the oldest at age 16. Ned's 15, but taller than Ted, so he's probably the one who Quanta saw go to attack Geo- I mean the suspect."
"Well I guess we know where we're going next," I say getting into a car. Baker climbs in the passenger side.
"Pulling up coordinates to the house now."
I smile. "Excellent." Maybe now we're finally getting somewhere.
