We moved away and it's all his fault.

That's what Mom says.

I can't believe that Dad would pull me away from my entire life. All my friends are home, my life is home, my crush is home.

-

"Before you go, you should tell Mike you like him!" Samantha, my best friend, laughed. "If you leave without telling him, you're gonna regret ittttt."

I shoved Samantha lightly on the shoulder, giggling. "I can't, Sam. He would probably make fun of me or something. He's.... yanno..... and I'm..... well...-"

"Brit... please. You're crazy. You will be gone anyway! It won't matter. Go tell him! Ohmygod he's walking toward us!" Sam quickly shot up from her seat and ran away raising her eyebrows.

"Hey, Britney. What's up?" Mike said, sliding in the seat next to me.

"Um.. I-I'm moving away." I blurted out.

"Wait what?"

"Yeah.. I'm moving away. I truly wish I could stay. Anyway, how are you?"

I glanced over at Samantha. Her hand was over her mouth as she giggled and she was surrounded by a bunch of other girls who were also staring at the show.

"Pretty bad after this." He said, laughing. "I was planning on asking you out on a date."

"Wa- Really? I've had a crush on you for a while," I admitted. "I was scared to tell you. I figured, now that I'm leaving, I could tell you and all that fear would lift off my shoulders if you would reject me."

"And?" He asked. "What about now?"

"And.... this result was much worse." I muttered, slamming my forehead into my palms.

He placed his hand into the small of my back and rubbed in circles. "Maybe we will work out."

-

We didn't.

He didn't even try to contact me.

Cause he couldn't.

"Sugar, what's wrong?" My dad asked when he entered the room.

Dad's eyes flickered to the television that sat in front of me. The news show was on from my home city. The text under the film said: "LOCAL TEENS FOUND DEAD IN HOUSES: SERIAL KILLER?"

"W-Who did they find?" Dad asked, sitting down next to me.

"Samantha and Mike." I sobbed. "My b-best friend and m-my crush."

I pressed my fingers to my temples as I continued crying.

"Shhhh, honey it's okay. It's okay. Maybe it's for the better." Dad said, placing his arms over me. I quickly shoved him off of me.

"F-for the better? What exactly is better here in this situation? The second I leave is when my two favorite people in this world are murdered."

"That's not what I meant, sweetheart. Wrong choice of words," He said. His eyes flickered. Something was seriously wrong. "I mean everything happens for a reason."

"A serial killer stabbing, shooting, and torturing my friends is not for any reason other than a petty, lonely man having the mindset that killing can somehow be justified. Nothing else." I rolled my eyes and stepped away from my father.

"I gotta go, Princess-"

"Good." I interrupted, folding my arms on my upper stomach.

And then he was gone.

I wish I was back home with Mike and Sam, laughing my ass off like I always do, I thought, wiping a tear off my wet face. I'm gonna kill whoever did this to my two closest friends. They. Will. Pay.
