Allison made her way to a shaded area for her lunch period, not wanting to be bothered by having to sit in the flesh-burning sun. As if on cue, when she sat down, Shawn came over, with a packed lunch in a crinkled, brown paper bag. Not that this was new, they both usually brought their lunch to school, and exchanged food items, just like they did in grade school. Even in high school they still traded. The conversed about classes and homework, weird facts that they had learned. Ever since she started fighting, she was determined to keep it a secret from Shawn. She didn't want to ruin their friendship. Her and Shawn had been best friends since the third grade and he felt like family. It had been so hard keeping such a big secret from Shawn. She would have to go to extreme lengths to make sure he will never find out.
After lunch was over, Allison reported to her last class: Spanish. She could have sworn the teacher had it out for her. Whenever they would change seats, she would always be sat in the front row, which left no excuses to not pay attention. Once she sat down, she pushed her glasses up and proceeded to take out last night's homework along with a notebook and a pen for notes later on in class. The bell rang and the teacher walked to the front of the room, giving Allison a small, almost unnoticeable glare. "Pass up your homework." Her voice had a slight accent that you could barely hear. Once the homework was all passed in, they started going over the lesson. Allison tried to concentrate as much as she could, but one thought kept coming into her mind: Why wasn't Harry at school? Was he embarrassed? She didn't think that was the case, but you never know.
The class ended somewhat quickly and she was off to her car. Her car didn't have A/C, and it was a particularly hot day for New York. With that being said, She took off her shirt, revealing a burgundy tank top. She had rested her forehead on the top of the steering wheel when she was startled by the passenger door opening. She looked over and saw none other that Harry Johnson. His jaw was bruised beyond belief. Allison smirked. "Nice bruise."
"Yeah, thanks," he said, glaring harshly.
"What are you doing in my car?" she sighed, leaning back in her seat.
"Well, you see, I was in ISS for a fight and I missed the bus." He explained it like they were best friends; a smile on his face, as if this was funny. ISS was a class in her school for the students who got into trouble. They would go to a classroom supervised by a teacher and teachers would bring down classwork and homework for the student to do. The student would stay in the room all day and would only leave to get lunch- which they had to bring back to eat- and washroom breaks.
"And you expect me to give you a ride, don't you?" She raised a skeptical eyebrow at him. "Where do you live?" she sighed, putting the car into drive. She pulled out of the parking lot. She looked over at him, expecting an answer, when all she got was a smug smirk from him. "If you don't give me an answer, I'm leaving you in the streets." She was already beyond frustrated with him and they hadn't even gotten to the street.
He gave her an answer and she drove, occasionally glancing over at Harry. He was on his phone, sometimes smiling. "Take a picture, it will last longer." He didn't even look up from his phone. Allison averted her gaze back on the road, pulling into Harry's driveway. "It's been a lovely time," he said, full sarcastic-ness in his voice.
Allison rolled her eyes and told Harry to get out. She backed out of the driveway and went straight to the ring. She headed to her locker, taking off her tank top to reveal a sports bra. She quickly french braided her hair and went to the washroom to change into patterned cropped leggings, much like the ones runners wear sometimes. She wrapped her hands and put on her gloves. She went to the ring, seeing someone already waiting to get their ass kicked. Which, they did.
After she spent close to 3 hours at the ring/gym, she pulled on her tank top and headed home. She did have homework, after all.
She arrived home just a mere 10 minutes later and grabbed a granola bar from the kitchen. It was only about 7 in the evening, so her mom wasn't home. She lived in a crappy apartment on the 'bad' side of town. She really shouldn't complain. It was cheap and affordable and that's what they needed. It was just her and her mom. Her dad had left when she was four. She went up to her bedroom, opening the white painted wooden door, revealing a light blue room, plastered with posters from bands to even a few wrestlers. She plopped down at her desk, taking out her homework. Her phone chimed and it said that she had a message from Shawn.
Shawn: Did you get the maths homework? It's so confusing to me!
Allison: I just got home
She soon regretted sending that text, as it could make him question where she was. And with her luck, her nightmare became a reality.
Shawn: where were you?
Allison: Oh, I work part-time at a coffee shop
Shawn: which one?
She was panicking now. She was out of her chair and pacing back and forth.
Allison: the one on the other side of town.
Shawn: what's the name? maybe I'll come and visit ;)
Allison smiled at his cheeky text, knowing it was just a joke. She was more panicked at the fact that she had to look up coffee shops on the other side of town. She tried to do it as quickly as possible because, knowing Shawn, he would start to get suspicious.
Allison: It's called Breaking Beans, I think
Another text came through, but this time, the name was under 'Sexy God'. Who on Earth would that be?
Sexy God: hey thanks for the ride today ;)
Of course it was Harry. The only question was how he got his number in her phone.
Sexy God: you really should set a password on your phone when you go to the ring. people could steal it or find out your number ;)
She couldn't stand the name he had given himself, so she quickly responded, then changed it.
Allison: what do you want?
Harold: no need to get offensive. I was just saying thank you, Ali
Allison: don't call me that and you're welcome. now, bye
Harold: no, wait. there's one more thing
Allison: come on, I have homework to do
Harold: um, I was wondering if you would like to go catch a movie or something this weekend?
Allison: no way. not a chance. no. yes
She found herself typing a yes in response. She didn't know what had gotten over her. No matter how hard she tried to say no, she always found herself saying something different. This was just a recipe for disaster. She knew that he was just playing her. That he didn't really like her. She was just another one of his victims.
She quickly finished her homework with one thought on her mind. Why would Harry drag her into his little game if he knew she could kick his ass?
A/N: So, it's been a while.
