Chapter 15

*Anne’s POV*

“Breakfast’s ready!” I shouted.

“Coming,” I heard Emily’s reply.

Seconds later and the three kids were sitting around the table.

“Thanks for the breakfast, Anne,” Emily thanked me.

“No need to thank me my dear,” I smiled at her.

Since Elena’s absence, these kids were treating me better. They didn’t remind me that they hated me every second, they even seemed to like me. I looked at them eating peacefully, fighting like any siblings fight and ending up laughing at their foolishness. They seemed happy though I knew they weren’t.  I wish I didn’t have to make that accident that day. Then their parents wouldn’t have died and these kids would have been happy. I wanted these kids to be happy. But all I wish is to make them happy.

“Look,” I said drawing their attention. “What about we go to the park next door?” I asked them. They hesitated for a second, but I persuaded them. “It’s just to have fun a little bit, come on.”

“I wanna go,” Hanna whispered.

“Fine, why don’t we go?” Emily suggested looking at her older brother.

“Whatever,” he said not really caring.

“Good, we’ll get ready once we finish,” I told them smiling.

When we were done, each one went to his room to get ready. I helped the girls choose what to wear and even helped Hanna dress up. 30 minutes later, we were all ready to go, I’ve already prepared some snacks to take with us.

The park wasn’t that far from our house, so I decided that we could walk. It took us 10 minutes to reach the park, I put our stuff down and Hanna asked, “Can we go play?”

“Sure go,” I smiled and the two girls hurried off.

I sat on one of the benches and Zach sat beside me not trying to say a word and I could feel that he was uncomfortable. He was looking at some girl sitting across the park writing. Her dirty blonde  hair fell perfectly on her shoulders, her blue eyes were sparkling under the sun. She looked really beautiful.

“Go talk to her,” I encouraged him.

“Um..” he looked unsure. “Maybe I shouldn’t,” he refused.

“Why?” I asked him.

“What if she doesn’t want to talk to me? What if she thinks I’m weird because I talked to her. What if she has an obsessed boyfriend?” he asked quickly.

“Whoa! Stop worrying about all these, it’s not like you’re going to marry her. Just talk to her and you’ll get the answers of all these questions,” I offered him a smile and he smiled back.

“I think I’ll go talk to her,” he said before flashing me one more smile and walking towards the girl. I grinned at the view, teenage boys! He somehow reminded me of Harry as a child. He once had a crush on a girl, but he was too shy to tell her. In the end she got a boyfriend and Harry went all mad, sad and angry for weeks. I can’t forget the day he came back home over happy. He said that he met a girl that he really liked. What a time!

After a complete hour, Zach came with a smile plastered on his face. I guess he really enjoyed his time with her.

“So how did it go?” I asked him.
