Adrien POV
When I got home I went to my desk and spun in my chair to look at my screen. I typed up what the man I saw looked like who held Mari and wrote as many details as I could, until I had written everything I possibly could think of. I could see his face very clearly because I had night vision, so it was pretty detailed. I decided to transform and look around for the man, since I have been doing patrol alone because my lady has been gone for the past couple weeks.Chat Noir POV
I jumped from one rooftop to the next, searching for the criminal who hurt my Marinette. I searched high and low, every alley, bar, and gang hangout I could think would house a criminal, and nothing. I kept searching until I was tired, and couldn't keep my eyes open. I check my phone in my pocket. It is 3 in the morning. Ugh. I head home, and hope I have better luck tomorrow.Marinette POV
After last night, I had to clean up the house a bit. I was nervous for what the bakery would be like since my arm is in a cast and my chest is bandaged. I wanted to just sleep and stay in bed all day long, but I have to work otherwise my parents would be in big trouble. I saw Tikki was looking at me worriedly as I stared down at the plate I was putting away. "Mari, it's late and you need sleep. You should go to bed. You can think about the bakery tomorrow. Don't worry, everything will be fine." I smiled at Tikki. She is always so kind and encouraging. "Alright. Let's go to sleep." I ended up going to the couch and sleeping there, because I was exhausted and the couch is comfy. That night, I had a terrible nightmare. I was at school, walking home, until the men came up to me. I was frightened, and nobody was around. One of the men had a bandage on their head, the one who held the knife. I backed up slowly, then started to run, but they were faster. They caught me as I screamed and struggled, trying to escape. One of the men punched me in the stomach, causing me to double over. The pain was excruciating, and my stomach was bleeding out. The man who punched me walked up to me as the other smirked and watched. He held up his knife and ignored my pleas for mercy as he stabbed me in the chest.
I woke up, cold sweat beading down my forehead, as I was shaking from fear. "Marinette! I'm so glad you're okay! I woke up to your screaming and thrashing, and when I tried to wake you up, nothing worked. Oh Mari I was so worried!" Tikki flew over to me and hugged my cheek tightly, as tears started to stream down her face. "Mari, what happened?" I blankly stared out into the Paris night through the window, still shaking as I started to cry as well.
I felt a lump in my throat as I tried to answer, still choking back tears that wouldn't stop coming. "Tikki, I- it was horrible. T-those men, wh-who at-tacked me in the alley.... they chased me and... and...." tears were now flowing out of my eyes like a waterfall as I covered my face.
Tikki looked at me with relief, sorrrow, and pain in her eyes as she watched her holder cry and shake uncontrollably. The only thing she could think of to do was hold her. "Mari, it's okay now. It was only a dream. I will be here with you and those men won't bother you." I kept crying as she held my hands in a hug, saying soothing words as I continued to cry, minute after minute, until I felt as if all my tears were gone. "Are you gonna be okay now?" Tikki asked me with concern as she cocked her head to look at my red face.
I swallowed another lump in my throat as I just nodded, getting up to check the time. 3:27am. I knew I couldn't go back to sleep, so I decided to transform and go to the Eiffel Tower. "Mari, just please be careful of your arm and your chest okay? I know you need to get away from this but I want you to transform and stay ladybug until you get home, okay?" Tikki looked at me for my answer with pleading eyes, knowing she only wanted to protect me. I nodded again as I couldn't speak, and transformed, looking out the window until jumping off into the night.
Ladybug POV
When I arrived at the Eiffel Tower, it was still dark, hours until the 6am sunrise. I just stared out into the city, the one I have been protecting for years now, with solemn eyes. I started to feel better, I have been up here so many times but never enjoyed the view, especially at night. The city seemed aglow as the city was peaceful, serene. The wind was blowing through my pigtails, and I took them out softly, still focusing on the beautiful city below me. I smiled as the wind blew my hair around, now free and swirling in the wind. This is what I have been longing for. Freedom and peace from my hectic life so far. I sighed as I continued to look out into the city, a smile forming at my lips as I closed my eyes. This is the life....Hey! Finished with finals now and relaxing for the rest of the day! Will write again this weekend. Sorry for the delay. Hope you enjoyed. Thanks for reading!
