Waking up to a cast on my forearm wasn't a huge surprise due to the mysterious boy crushing it yesterday. I looked to the side and my mother, with a book on her lap, was sleeping peacefully, but I could tell she was crying due to her eyes looking puffy and her nose having a hint of red.

I snuggled in my blanket and thought about the boy that rescued me yesterday. "Boy" wasn't the correct wording though and neither was "man" because he didn't look like a man, but he didn't look like a boy either.

So i'm just going to call him Quarterback.

I licked my lips, and tried to pass some saliva down my throat, but it just felt like the Sahara desert inside of there.

I tried to reach for the glass of water and ended up just dropping it which thankfully, it wasn't glass.

My mother opened her eyes and violently smacked the air. She looked at me and smiled and gave me a gentle hug, so she didn't hurt me.

"Oh, thank God you're all right," She looked up and tears welled in her brown eyes. "do you remember what happened?"

"Obviously mother, I got my arm crushed down by an idiot." I rolled my eyes because the anger was bigger than the pain. Well there wasn't any pain due to the morphine of course.

Mother Lindsay narrowed her eyes at me and I knew a speech was coming. "What do you mean an idiot? He saved your life from dying -getting run over for Christ sakes- and I want you to thank him. I'll go call him."

"He stayed?"

"Well, yes." My mom answered like if I was stupid. "He wanted to know how you were."

"Oh." I answered, dumbfounded.

My mother went out of the room and left a small crack open. I could see her back and Quarterback's chest. He changed his blue shirt to a black shirt which stuck to his body very well.

I could see them talking and I wondered what about and I just saw him nodding and he glanced my way and I covered my face with the blanket.

I felt footsteps coming my way and the chair creaked when someone sat on it. The person started humming to a very familiar song I knew and I slowly brought the blanket down, revealing Quarterback with an amused expression.

I sat up straight and Quarterback watched every moved then quickly glanced at the cast in my arm. Guilt ran through his eyes and he gently bit his bottom lip the scratched the back of his neck.

"I'm sorry.. about your arm," He sighed. "well for breaking it."

Being petty was far easier than proving myself wrong, but I knew Quarterback was just trying to save me. "No.. I'm sorry for being a total-"

"Bitch." Quarterback finished my sentence and flashed a smile.

"Sure. Bitch." I used his choice of wording. "Well thank you. For trying to save me I mean. Not for breaking my arm. I wouldn't thank you for that."

His laughter filled the small room we were in and I smiled. "Your ma says your name is Dorothy. I like it. Not everyone has that name."

"Well not everyone can have that name because not everyone is female gender, but thank you for your compliment Quarterback." I deadpanned.

"Quarterback?" He raised an eyebrow, again an amused expression visible on his face.

"Yeah, that's what i'm calling you since I don't know your name." I shrugged.

"It's Weiss."

"Weiss." I let the name roll around my tongue. Weiss' eyes flickered with something I didn't caught fast enough and just stifled a smiled.

"Weiss." I repeated and I finally smiled.

"I'm going to call you Dot."

"You're saying it like we are seeing each other much more."

"Oh.." He smirked. "We are."
