Joker jumped into the vat of chemicals. He grabbed Harley and pulled her close, checking to see if she was breathing. She wasn't. Joker acted quickly. He gave her CPR in hopes that she would "wake up." Suddenly, Harley gasped for air. The acid within the chemicals had melted holes into the two's clothes by now. Harley looked surprised that Joker had jumped in after her. She pulled him closer to her and kissed him. She didn't know what to say, but she knew that she loved him. Joker held her up so that she would not fall further into the vat.

"You... you came back for me," Harley looked away. She was beaming, but didn't want Joker to see her.

"Well, I would never forgive myself if I had let you die in here, stop hiding that smile of yours... you should never hide such a beautiful thing," Joker smiled at her. It wasn't the usual psychotic smile he put on, but a sincere one. He kissed her on the cheek. "Let's get out of here," Joker grabbed the wall of the vat and pulled himself and Harley to the top. Then he hoisted himself back onto the conveyarbelt holding Harley close to him so that she wouldn't fall. Harley's blond hair was streaked with blue and red. Whatever was in the chemicals had dyed her hair. The same thing had happened to Joker when he fell in years ago, but his hair was dyed green. Their clothing looked as if a rabid animal clawed through it leaving holes almost everywhere. They walked out of the room and he led her to another area in the building. It was an old break room. When Joker lived there, he set up a mini "apartment" for himself. The room was old and run down, but it had a shower, water, food, anything you would need really.

"You should wash off those chemicals before they start to burn your skin." Joker incisted, "I'm sure I can find a few old shirts lying around."

Harley wanted to argue, Joker was also drenched in chemicals, and she did NOT want his skin to burn. She fought her urges, but gave in eventually.

"What about you? What if I take a long shower and your skin burns off or something??" Joker looked at her curiously.

"Well what should I do, Harley, there is only one source of water. I will be fine." Harley had one thought, but shook it from her mind deciding that the two were not even officially together. She would just take the fastest shower that she could.

After the two were no longer covered in chemicals....

Joker sat on the old, patched up couch next to Harley. She was wearing an extreamly oversized button down shirt. It looked like a short dress, but nothing too revealing. Joker was wearing an old pair of jeans and a t-shirt he had found. Harley rested her head on his shoulder. Joker wondered how he had gotten to this point... this moment.... this place. When did this new life begin for him. Was it when Harley first met him? Or was it when Joker told her what he had done, and she still cared for him. She still felt that he was misunderstood. She still felt that he was not who everyone thought he was. She always stood up for him and defended him. Joker didn't always like to be defended, but while everyone around her called him a psychopath and a monster, she told them that he was damaged. That he was no monster. After all he had done, she still loved him. Joker suddenly kissed Harley. He had never felt this way before. He had never felt that someone cared for him.

"Harley,"

"Yes," Harley replied.

"You want to be with me? You... you want to help me, no matter how bad?" Joker asked.

"Yes, Joker, this is what I want," By now, Harley's hair had air-dried. The top was a bleached blonde now, and half on the bottom was blue, and the other half was red. Joker thought she looked pretty.

"Have you seen your hair, Harley, it looks different, but I think it suits you well."

"No," Harley seemed a bit worried. She walked over to a broken window. She carefully picked up a piece of glass and used it as a mirror. She gasped. "Wow, I love it! I would've never done it before though,"

"Let's get out of here." Joker said.

"Yes, do you have a car here? I can drive us to my house. I'll change into some thing nicer and we can go back out. It's a good thing you gave me two pairs of my 'costume,'" Harley giggled.

"Of course! Come this way," He pulled Harley through the building. Harley was shocked. The car was a beautiful shade of redish purple. "I built it myself," Joker was proud. They drove to Harley's place and she changed into a skin tight sleeveless red dress and threw on some black pumps. She also brushed her hair and put it into pigtails where the colors changed. Then they drove off to a suit rental shop where Joker stole himself a nice purple and green suit. The duo then went to a club that was open all night, every night. Music blasted in the background as they walked in.

"Wait, aren't you wanted?" Harley asked.

"Don't worry about it, I'm the king of the castle here!" He laughed psychoticly.   He led her to the back of the club. There was a huge bar there. He ordered two bourbons and slid one to Harley. "I want you to meet my.... friends," He took a sip of his drink. "That's penguin, and over there," He pointed to a man that looked like a crocodile with his green scaly skin and his big yellow eyes, "is Killer Croc,"

"Who's that?" Penguin asked, "She reminds me of a girl version of you," Penguin snickered and Killer Croc gave a growl that seemed to be a laugh. Joker smiled a psychotic smile.

"This is the one and only Harley Quinn! She is going to be deadly. Gotta love her!" He laughed, but caught Harley by surprise. She was not expecting him to say something like that. To hide her blushing and her smile she took a long sip of her bourbon.

"Oh yeah? She your partner now or something, or is she just someone special?" Penguin asked.

"Well, Harley is both, she is going to be the best partner I have ever had and ever will have," Everyone talked for a while until they got pretty drunk. Harley was dancing around and Penguin couldn't stop laughing. Joker was cracking jokes as well as dancing with Harley. Killer Croc ended up going home because he wanted a 'snack.' No one stopped him because they didn't want to know what kind of snack he was talking about. Eventually Harley and Joker drove to her place. They were lucky they didn't crash considering how drunk they were. Harley changed into Joker's oversized button down shirt again and got a gallon of water from the fridge. Joker put on his jeans and t-shirt again and the two fell asleep quickly.

The next morning...

Harley woke up that day feeling very hungover. She groaned. Joker was still asleep next to her. Harley got out of bed and brushed her teeth. Joker got up soon after. Despite feeling horrible he still had a smile on his face. He made Harley French Toast and they watched a movie about world domination in their "pajamas." Joker had a big night planned for them...
