Snow

It's been awhile since I've seen Elizabeth. She hasn't changed a bit. Pale blonde hair tied up, and of course a braid was intricately woven into her pony tale. Her purple necklace was reflecting in the sun, which looked nice with her light skin, and her blue dress was about knee length, revealing her black tights. Her purple shoes really pulled the outfit together. They were high heals, but Elizabeth didn't really need the extra height. The woman was 6'5. 6'5!!!! What. The. Frick.

Out came James, the antisocial king. He had blonde hair, combed down, boxy glasses, and light brown eyes. He was wearing a white button down shirt and blue tie, black dress pants, and brown leather shoes. James was ruler of our kingdom. The Kingdom of the Stars. He awkwardly peered down the hallway, then made his way towards his wife, Josie.

Josie looked casual. Her short black hair was combed back. She was wearing a light purple blouse, and black stretchy pants. Her brown boots looked comfortable, and they brought out her dark brown eyes. And of course she was wearing the necklace James had given her. James came up to her and awkwardly hugged her, then they kissed. Josie smiled. She and James didn't get to see each other a lot. Josie lived in Zadieland with Elizabeth, and because of her work, she didn't get to visit James to often.

Josie's two brothers stepped into view. They looked similar. Both had darker skin, short hair, and the same dark eyes. One big difference was that Brodie, the bulkier of the two, had the smallest beard, while Royal, a little skinnier than Brodie, face was very well shaved. They both looked at Josie and James very uncomfortably. They were always squirmish when they saw their sister kiss James. I'm still not really sure why.

Then Holly stepped out from behind Elizabeth. Holly was a very sunshiny person. She looked sunshiny too. She had a yellow dress covered in flowers, she was wearing black tights, and she had on brown leather boots that brought out her light brown eyes. Her hair was a light blonde that was rich and full. She was the newest member of Zadieland. She was a really cool person, but I hadn't really spent anytime with her.

"Hey guys!" James said happily. "How are you?"

"Good." Said Elizabeth

"Anything new happening in Zadieland?" He asked.

"Not really." Said Elizabeth casually. "But Holly's cousin is moving in for an internship."

"Cool! Where are they?" James said, looking around.

"They'll be here soon. They just wanted to finish unpacking a box first." Elizabeth grabbed something from behind her. "While we're waiting, why don't you have some of my world famous cupcakes?"

More like world famously bad cupcakes I thought to myself. Elizabeth was a terrible cook. As soon as she opened the cupcake container, the room was filled with a sickly sweet aroma. The cupcakes were sloppily frosted, and bits and pieces were crumbling off.

"I need to get some air." I announced, and ran outside.

That's when I saw her.

The first thing I saw was her eyes. They were icy blue. They were somehow sharp, like a blizzard, yet soft, like powdery snow. Her hair was blindingly white, with deep purple and light bubblegum pink streaks. It was pulled into a messy braid. She was wearing a purple floral dress, with pink highlights, and gray tights. She had silver heels that shined in the sun, right into my eyes. It was a second or two before she noticed me. She was crouched down, observing a flower.

She looked up at me. "Hi!" She smiled.

My stomach started to knot. I was glued to the spot, I couldn't move.

"Do you know Elizabeth? I was supposed to meet her here, I think."

I nodded a little too fast. I couldn't really think.

"She's in there," I pointed to the doors, "Don't eat the cupcakes."

And then she was gone.

I waited outside until I heard them walk into the living room. Then I quietly opened the doors and snuck into my room. I looked at myself through the mirror that was positioned over the vanity. My reflection seemed to mock me, telling me I wasn't pretty enough. No matter what I did, the mocking from the mirror never seemed to stop. My boring black eyes. My boring long, black hair. My boring face. My boring everything. My outfits were always the same thing; Black jeans and a tee shirt. I had some tattoos. I wanted something to be there instead of just my boring arms. I sat down on a stool, depressed.

Then, from a distance, James yelled for me to come hang out with them. I took a deep breath, stood up, and made my way towards the door.

When I got to the living room, I tried to avoid eye contact with anybody. I sat down on the couch when the girl from earlier stood up.

"Hi, I don't think I introduced myself properly. My names Snow. What's yours?"

I stood up and shook her hand. It was soft, smelling vaguely of lavender.

"M-My name's Ebony." I stuttered. My heart was beating so fast it felt like it was going to explode.

"Nice to meet you Ebony." She gave me another smile. Another heart melting, blinding smile.

"Nice to meet you too." I said quietly. My face was burning. It probably a deep shade of scarlet. I sat back down and looked at my shoes, trying not to look embarrassed. People kept talking, but I wasn't really listening. All I could think about was that smile. Every once in awhile she would smile again, and I would look up, trying to catch a glimpse of it. I wanted her to smile at me. I wanted to be able to make her smile like that.

I wanted it to be me.
