She was going to be late again and with a swish of her tail coat she cursed Eddie for ever convincing her to get a cat. That was the third time this week; He was not going to be happy. It wasn't like she had any control over the situation. But things came up. Maybe sometimes on purpose. Maybe. But that didn't matter. She pushed the thought out of her mind and mulled over what she was going to tell Him today. It had to be good because she was late. And it would be. Finally, she arrived at the beige townhouse where she had gone everyday for the past 5 years. It was on a hill overlooking the ocean in a neighborhood full of differently styled buildings. It was part of the beach town down below, but somehow separated from the rest of that small, lazy city. Detached almost, as if saying," I'm too good for you". But she didn't stay long. She would have other times to enjoy the view. Many other times. She walked up the few stairs and knocked smartly on the door. He liked things done with purpose and she needed him on her good side today. Especially today. Because today she was going to ask him. The door opened to reveal a abnormally small man in a tuxedo behind which was a room with spotless white carpets and no furniture.
"Adams! Good to see you! How've you been? Sorry I'm late. How is He today?" She rushed, but didn't step over the threshold. She knew better.
"Well thank you, Miss. He's impatient. You may enter." He replied, not unkindly, but he knew better than to get attached to them. He knew what happened after He was done with them.
"Thank you Adams. Straight up I suppose?" She replied.
"Yes Miss. I'll see you after your Session"
She turned left and opened a door, behind which was a flight of stairs. She did not notice the complete lack of furniture or the almost sterile environment she was in. This place had a purpose. If only she could discover what that purpose was. She walked up the stairs and reached a landing with another plain door. She fiddled with her appearance for a moment. Then she knocked almost vivaciously , as if he didn't already realize she was late. Of course He realized. The door opened and He stood there. She felt a jolt of nerves even though it had been months since he last... punished her. He was tall. And dark. And (you guessed it) mysterious. He wore a dark suit, the same one he had worn everyday since That Day. But his face was...obscured. It was weird. Every time she tried to get a close look, his features became blurry. Everything but the eyes. They were dark and revealed nothing. Or maybe they did but there was nothing to reveal. She may never know.
"Come in. You're late." His voice was deep and booming. It resonated within her and made her think of things that she would rather not think about.
She turned her attention to the room. It was small, 10 x 10, and held the only piece of furniture in the entire apartment. A single wooden chair. Simple, not ornate. Just a chair. A chair she knew well. Quite well. There was nothing else. Just the same white carpet and beige walls as the rest of the house. There were no windows which made the room that much more intimidating. Her thoughts wandered to the outside. The sunshine of May and the happy tourists floating in the ocean. How nice it must feel to be them. Not a care in the world. She hadn't felt that way in a long time. He pointed to the chair and snapped her back into reality. To here. To now."So... Lana. Which story do you have for me today. Something useful I hope. You know what happens when I get angry. " The same line every day. She thought about what was coming if what she had wasn't useful again. Then she shook it off. She didn't need that thought looming above her head. She needed to concentrate. She thought hard and then started...
