Many people say Hinduism has many gods
I say this isn't true
I say Hinduism has one god
Mysterious, imperious, and true
Brahman
Divided into many forms
Separate entities
Whole different personalities
Governing life
Teaching souls
Dispelling and causing strife.
As Islam's Allah has 99 names
As Christianity's God has three forms
So does Brahman
Though He has rather more.
From Yama to Indra
From Vayu to Agni
Not even close to perfect
All with oddities and problems
Really many are not so different from me or you.
The exception are of course the Hindu Trinity
Brahma the creator of all
His day is one creation, destroyed in his slumber.
Protected by Vishnu,
Preserver of the World
Husband to Lakshmi,
Bringing fortune to all,
Destroyed by Shiva
The fiery meditator
One minute silent, the other crushing foes.
Not one is flawless
But really that's what makes me believe
Because no one is perfect but one
The gods' essences combined.
The mighty Brahman.
