CHAPTER TEN
"Where am I?" As I open my eyes, I realize that I'm in our school's clinic. The nurse told me to rest first before going to class. She told me that I'm anemic so I should be careful. I asked her how did I get there and she said, "Oh, Jeno Yoon carried you all the way here." Oh, yeah right. I remember the confession happened in the rooftop, then that jerk turned down the girl, then the girl slapped him before crying, then.. "Wait a second." I murmured. "Uhmm, Ms. Nurse." she smiled at me before I continue what I am saying "I'm so sorry but I don't really know your name so can I just call you Ms. Nurse? I'm not really fond of memorizing people's name so.." She looked at me and gave me a warm smile "It's okay to call me Ms. Nurse my dear. All people here at our school know that habit of yours."
"Did that jerk- or I mean the guy who carried me here ask you something?" I ask nervously. "Oh, yeah. He asked me if you're really sick because he told me that, before you became unconscious you shouted and you put both of your hands in your head like it was going to explode in pain. I told him that you're now okay so don't panic anymore and just go back to class. He's really worried about you." she told me with a calm look. "I think it's best for you to go to a doctor and let them check your head." I just nodded and go back to sleep.
I woke up by the sound of my cell phone. It was Chloe.
Chloe: Hey, Aali! Where are you? It's already five in the afternoon. Don't tell me you'll ditch me again because of that Jeno?
Aaliyah: Shuddup! But wait, what time it is?
Chloe: It's already five in the afternoon. You told me that we'll meet here in Starbucks. I'm here half an hour before our call time. Where the hell are you by the way?
Aaliyah: Oh, dammit! I'll be there in less than 15 minutes. Wait for me okay.
I was about to stand up when my body felt heavy. I was surprised to see 'the jerk' sound asleep. Now that I think about it. He really is good looking. He has long eyelashes. I put his right hand away at my left foot carefully to avoid waking him up. I gather all of my things quietly before leaving but I felt guilty leaving him behind. So I turned my back to face him. As I approach him, I saw a locket falling from his left pocket. I took it before it fell on the ground. I looked at the locket thoroughly and something flashed back on my mind. "This locket looks familiar to me." I murmured. The jerk suddenly stood up and snatches the locket in my hands. "Who told you that you can touch other peoples stuff?!" he said between gritted teeth. He looks really angry that you can now see the veins going to pop out on his neck. "I'm sorry. It's just that it fell on the ground so I picked it up. No need to get so mad." I argued back. "By the way, th-tha-thankyouforcarryingmehere." I blushed while saying it really fast and turn my heel.

"Hey, what took you so long??" Chloe demanded. I was in a dazed so I didn't hear her clearly. "Uhhmm, sorry? What did you just say?" I asked. She just rolled her eyes at me. We drove the car in silence. It's not the awkward silence but it was the comforting silence that I really need right now. I'm having a mental battle whether I should ask Chloe about these strange things that I'm remembering these past few days. I broke the silence by asking Chloe "Uhmmm.. Chlow.. uhmmmm.. We’ve been together since we're 3 years old right? When we still live in Japan?" She turned to look at me and said, "Yeah, of course. You're like my other half. A bestfriend and a sister to me. It's like you're my oxygen in my life." I laughed at the last statement she said. "Stop beeing cheesy Chlow. It's disgusting." I playfully told her. "Alliyah Matsumoto, what's wrong?" Uh-oh. Chloe only uses my whole name when she's in a serious mode. "Uhmmm. . . I. . . . I just . . . . want to ask you something. . . ." I said nervously. She looked at me signaling to go on. "Uhmm. . . . can we cancel our practice for today? Because I have to do something really important. Is that fine with you?" I asked. She chuckled and ruffled my hair. "You, silly girl. I thought your problem is as big as Russia. Of course, it's fine. The competition is still far and we still have a lot of time." I sighed in relief because I thought she'll get mad at me.
Actually I lied. That wasn't the thing I wanted to ask. This is not just the right time to tell her. I know I'm being unfair 'cause we promise each other that there's no secret between us, but I can't bring myself to ask her. "Chlow, can you just drop me at the bus stop?" I said. At first she doesn't want to but surrendered at the end. "Okay fine Aali! You won. So promise me that you won't dare to tell anyone about my birth mark in my shoulders." she said in a furious tone. I just shrug while smirking at her funny expression.
"Now I'm off. Thanks for the ride Chlow." I told her cheerfully. "Yeah, anytime. Call me when you get home and say hi to Madison and Ryuu for me, okay." She honked before leaving.
