I was just sitting down for my short, 30-minute lunch with two out of the five other teachers in the fourth grade, when my phone starts to ring.

"Hello?"

"Hi, is this Kathryn Wilson?" A male voice responded.

"It is. May I ask who's calling?" I place my phone between my ear and my shoulder so that I can open my lunch. I swear if I'm wasting my lunch time with another telemarketing call...

"Yes, Ms. Wilson, my name is Jared Spade. I am calling on behalf of Epic Entertainment."

My hazel eyes widen then narrow in curiosity. I look around the kidney bean table at my coworkers, wondering what this could possibly be about. They both stare back in equal curiosity to my gaze. "Uh, hi."

"Ms. Wilson, we are hopeful that maybe you'll be able to meet with us for a discussion sometime this week in regards to your book Which We Trust."

"Put it on speaker", mouths Terry.

I immediately do so, this way I can know if I'm just going crazy or if this is actually happening. "I'm sorry, my book? I wrote that, like, four years ago. And it wasn't even well written."

"She wrote a book?" I hear Mary whisper to Terry. I wave for them to stop talking to I can hear.

"Yes, ma'am. We understand that you wrote this book in college. Seeing as it has been a few years, you are more than likely working now. We are flexible and will be able to meet with you sometime during the weekend, if that will work better for your schedule."

"Um, where are you located?" If this was a production company, wouldn't they be in L.A.?

"We are based out of Los Angeles." Told ya.

"And you know I'm in Dallas, correct?"

"Yes, ma'am, we are aware of your location. We are willing to pay for your airfare, as well as your hotel and meals."

Mary gasps, "Is this for real? What's going on?"

That is a wonderful question. "When would you want this to happen?"

"We were hoping that you could be flown in on Friday and stay until Sunday. We would set up a meeting for Saturday at noon at the home office."

I look at Mary and Terry for help, my eyes as wide as saucers. What should I do? I mouth to them. They both just shrug, dumbfounded. Great, the first time I actually want advice from them and they give me nothing. I have known Terry and Mary for the 2 years that I have worked at Glayson Elementary School. They have been my rock through my first years as a teacher and have given me amazing advice. Except for now.

"Okay?" I say tentatively.

"Great! I will let my client know and we'll email you the flight and hotel information."

"Wait, your client-," I start to ask, only to be hung up on. I sit back in my chair and stare at my phone. For some reason, I feel like I just ran up some stairs and my heart is about to come out of my chest. "I guess I'm going to L.A. tomorrow."

"Okay," Terry starts, "What the hell just happened?"

"What book was he talking about?" asks Mary.

I sigh and take a glance at the clock. The kids will be back from recess in about 15 minutes. That should be enough time for this story.

"Back in high school, I had this boyfriend. We were perfect and happy and in love and all that bullshit. We had this perfect plan. We would graduate, go to the same college, and get our degrees. A year later, we would get engaged and then a year after that, get married. We would have that perfect house with the white picket fence and 2.3 kids and a golden retriever named Spot or something equally as ridiculous." I stop to take a breath.
