Several days passed and Sam was just walking some dogs for that extra cash. He never really did anything except work, and practice, since he wasn't allowed to do college since the attacks.
While he was walked the dogs around some buildings in a small enclosed neighborhood. When he was walking around, he saw his dad. And he wasn't alone. He was walking with some random woman.
Sam decided to hurry up and bring the dogs home. When he did, he immediately looked for his father and found them near some gas station. They were laughing a bit and Sam rarely saw his father laugh. After that they made their way back to his dads apartment. It turned dark and it started to rain. The two just laughed as they got soaked.
He finally snuck behind them enough to hear their conversation.
"What time do you want me to be there?"
"Around 2 or 3" Jack said.
"Perfect. Hey, Jack?" The girl asked.
"Yeah?" Jack responded.
The woman leaned in and gave the man a kiss. Jack blushed a bit but turned his head. He grabbed her shoulders and pushed her away.
"No. Just, please no. I'm...-" Jack said hesitating.
"- Are you gay?" The woman interrupted.
"What the - No! Never! I'm just... Not ready... I can't risk-" He stopped dead in his sentence not daring to go any further.
"Risk what, Jack?" The woman asked.
"I can't risk loosing you. I get into a lot of danger. I can't have you getting involved in it too." Jack said honestly.
"Really? That's what your worried about? You don't think I can't take care of myself? I can do more than you think." The woman's mood toned down. "But your not ready. But when you are, I'll be right here." She kissed his cheek then walked off.
Jack stood there with his head down. He spoke quietly.
"Are you happy?" He said clenching his fist. "You told me that you wanted me to move on. To not linger on your death. Well here! I fell in love with another woman but I still love you. I'm sorry,-" Sam couldn't here the name that was about to be said. Jack whispered it.
Sam snuck away and after a while of waiting, he went back home making it look like he was working.
