Percy

Holy shit, I wasn't ready for this date.

I myself was ready.

Max and Alex weren't ready to let me go. They let Tahlia go just like that, probably because they knew she had a girlfriend. But I knew Nico would be starting to get suspicious that I was sticking him up by now and he'd get mad and then he wouldn't want to go out tonight and everything would get ruined because my brother and sister won't let me leave my cabin and I just don't want to ruin the date because of it. Or our relationship for that matter.

Nico and I had agreed to meet at 5 so we would be there at 5:30. We were going out for dinner, then I was going to bring him to Blick because I had a little bit of money to spoil him with and he really liked art and doing things like painting and drawing and, on the occasion, pottery. They had all of it there and it was nice stuff. Then after that, not far from the art store there's a really nice dessert place I'm bringing him, too.

Also, Nico has no idea what we're doing. We've been together for a while now. Well, we got together back in September and nobody knows yet. He had left camp in August and I freaked out about it because yeah, he does it all the time, but with Hazel being there I thought he might not, but he did. We had run into each other a week after he left, I was on my way home from Junior Registration when I saw him sleeping in an alley and he's my friend and I felt bad that he didn't even have anywhere to stay so I kind of picked him up and carried him seven blocks to the apartment and my parents knew he had been missing once again so they saw him and jumped on getting him stuff.

Yeah, he wasn't very happy with me when he woke up. But I made up with it by taking him out to lunch because you could tell he was starving and my parents weren't at home, both working. He moved in and nothing got to Camp about him staying at my house. Our first official date had been in September.

So I was currently trying to stay calm. Trying. Max was testing my patience, Alex was, for the most part, staying quiet as he normally is. Just watching.

"You didn't tell us you were going out, too!" Max tried to reason.

"What did you expect me to say?" I asked," I've been dealing with like a dozen new recruits, three of them were you guys. You guys can like go visit with Mom or something for a few hours, or even just stay there if you want to. I can give you directions from Goode."

That sold them and I told them that it was 4 blocks from the school before you turn right for another 10 blocks and there's a small complex there.

So here went nothing.

Alex

We get to Mom's place and there was a note saying they'd be back by 6 and by the time we found the place it was a quarter to 6, so we waited and after a few minutes they were there. Mom and the guy Percy told us about, Paul. He just looked nice. Like a nice guy. Salt and pepper hair, although more brown than the grayish tones. He wasn't that old, Mom's age. Wearing a light blue button up with a black tie and then like beige dress pants and nice shoes. He must be returning from work or something, because Mom was not dressed up.

But Mom, oh my gods. She didn't look a day over 35 and she looked so much happier than the last time we physically saw her when we still lived here in Manhattan and Percy got that right. Mom was happy.

And it's not a lie that Percy and myself. Well, we're identical.

Like, very identical.

And it just so happened that when they showed up, Max was in the bathroom. Mom was carrying a baby car seat for some insane reason. Maybe she babysits. You never know. But Paul looks at me and gets so confused.
